    Monterey riding?

I am heading up to the Monterey/ Santa Cruz area this weekend and am looking for places to ride. Either trails or DJ's. Its my first time up there so I don't know my way around. Any direction would be helpful, or even the names of a good LBS. Thanks

Cool, this thing finally posted. I have been trying for 2 days to post a new thread but the server wouldn't let me for some reason. Anyways someone please reply soon. I'll be leaving in a few hours and don't know if I'll be able to check the web.
I guess I'll hit Wilder Ranch State Park in SC for starters. Any other suggestions?

Are you on ridemonkey? Try asking over there. There's a bunch of people in the Nor Cal forum that might be able to hook you up. There's a good bike shop on 41st street in Capitola, but I forget the name. I'll PM you with a couple suggestions.

I know of some dj's up at fort ord. (east garrison)
They are pretty sweet but you would need someone to show you where they are. That is the only good spot i know if in the area.

They tore down everything except the DH course. The took down the wood and all but the jumps are still there. It is really over grown now, and i wouldnt ride it, I am pretty sure they got fences around it also.

it's also on a gun range. i wouldn't ride there. there's trails in the fort ord area you can ride, but not the sea otter course.

if you do decide to go near the college, i would lay low, but i recommend that you don't go at all. there has been a lot of heat from rangers and stuff. not to mention scary hippies who crawl out of bushes and put logs across trails.
