    Maxxis Rim strips question....

I am going to use the Maxxis strips on Outlaw wheels to go tubeless and was just wondering if I should leave the existing Velox rim tape in place or replace it electrical tape or something else. Any suggestions would be great.

Velox strips are very thick and will make mounting tires difficult. Pull the Velox out, put one or two layers of fiber strapping tape over the spoke holes, and then mount the rim strip. Less is more. Black tape is not strong enough alone, and won't add any function over just strapping tape.

I left the Velox in and the Michi 32 and 16 mounted up easy and filled with no issues. Added Stans as well.
