    Mammoth: just a couple pics....

These pics were taken on August 10th & 11th. Sorry bout the blurry smudge. There were still some huge patches of snow up there for being the middle of summer. It was 100 degrees at the base of the mountain, and 45 degrees at the top. The new trail 'Flow' has a sweet 20ft drop that I wish I got a picture of. I thought I did but I guess I didnt. Oh well. Enjoy anyway.

sweetness, looks awsome, but that drop on flow was no where near 20 feet. it was a little over five from takeoff to start of landing...

we were up there on Tu, We, and Fr. the stuff on "Flow" and "Pipeline" is really fun, not to mention some of the new x-zone stuff. Oh...and I agree with "Nobody24" that drop on flow is about 5' from lip of takoff to landing (measured vertically). However, if you hit it with speed....it could easily be a double digit drop, be kinda hard to make it 20' though....unless you cleared the entire wooden section of the landing. It was really fun all the same!

Mammoth has got it's $hit down and is really building an awesome DH/Freeride destination....very impressed with their operation and layout of the runs. Was hoping that "DC-10" would be opened but they hadn't finished building it yet.....

    More pictures....!

I'm headed up Aug 25.26.27. I've never been to Mammoth, Only rode BigBear for the past 3 years, And we all know what happened this year... Anyway I'd love to ride with a local or someone who knows the place. I'll be coming up from So Cal Thursday night and riding Fri and Sat.

Talked the wife into Mammoth for our anniversary so the nights are full of family stuff.

PM me here or on ridemonkey, Ride On.

I just finished two weeks in CA from TX i did mammoth northstar and downieville. Those are some awesome pics from mammoth. i had a blast riding there. I dont think you can beat Downieville. The town the people and the trail. Not the hardest ever but a classic in my books. you guys have some sweet trails on the west coast.

You think that snow will melt in 2 weeks? cause I went up there a week and a half ago and I thought it would have been gone by now. I remember trying to go down DH and It sucked...riding through it is the fast way.

they call that their "90' dragon" on their webpage. It is kinda lame actually, really wide and not difficult to ride...there is stuff on the trails that are much more challenging and fun than that....I have some decent pics of the drop on Flow (although they make it look tiny), I'll try and post em tomorrow.

BTW while we were there someone made a pretty good sized drop on Lower Velocity. It is at least 10' vertical and about that much or more horizontal gap to the tranny. My kids were going to attempt it, but my oldest son checked his bike and just "happened" to notice that the top mounting bolt for his rear shock had sheard off somewhere before we stopped to check the drop out - I'd hate to think what would've happened to him and his bike had he not checked it - YIKES!!!

I think at this point th snow is melting fast or thats what they locals said. When i was there a week ago they said more and more trail was opening everyday. if you like sushi go to Shotgun Jap and then i had a burger at Henasseys i think. They have Wild Wendesdays and all the beer is half price. Its a cool little town

    Couple of our favorites;
Roberto's - good mex food but gets very busy Fri & Sat nites.
Old Mammoth Rd, on left hand side before Vons shopping center
Giovanni's - great speciality pizza, also gets very busy Fri & Sat
    In Vons shopping center
Gomez - 2nd choice for mex when Roberto's is too busy, just off the main road, right side.

Few more things to do, catch sunset from Minaret Summit just past Main Lodge.
Visit Lakes region, Twin, Mary, George, etc.

After riding Big Bear, I have to say Mammoth does the trails right. They are more challenging and I liked that
