Locals' Guide to North Shore Rides

    See here https://reviews.mtbr.com/locals-guid...th-shore-rides

Written by brodiegrrl - long time member of MTBR - full disclosure - she's my wife! She worked long and hard on this and given that its the first guidebook for North Shore trails in a long time it seems to fit the need

Della Creek from two days ago. Just rained and as good as its ever been. All POV as didn't have the patience to stop and shoot stills - lots of stills from old writeup

Kind of a repost from last year[/URL] - Trail length is 7.3km (all but 320m on singletrack). Total vertical drop is 1164m (3818 feet)

Where can I contact someone (or group of riders) that could guide 3 Mexican members of this forum through pemberton/squamish trails? Or is the book detailed enough for us foreigners to navigate through the trails?

I asked in the NSMB forum but I got minimal response.

Best thing to do for squamish/pemberton is stop by the bike shops and buy a map. Ask them for recommendations.

This book is only for the three local north shore mountains.

The book is worth it even if you are not heading to the Shore to ride.
Our group each picked up one when we were out there in July.
The book has great info and easy to follow maps which should help you find the stuff you are looking for.

    MTB Trails in 2011.

The year is almost at an end. Wade and I are happy with the postive response*we've had with the guide book. Thanks for all your support!

As our way of giving back to the community we have provided grants to trail*builders working on the North Shore trails. As many of you know this network*would not be what it is without the dedicated builders who go out on their*own to work on their own trails as begets their passion. While official groups*cannot support them, we feel that their contibution cannot go wthout thanks.

So to those working on Cypress, Seymour and Fromme, to those providing direction*to riders who may not know where they are we thank you.

We provided grants to 5 groups all of whom prefer to remain under the radar so obviously pseudonyms are used.

    - Aftertaste Crew
    - BMB
    - TheGigglr
    - TheTrailFairies

Also we have been doing some of our own work on the new connector trail Greenland.

This trail came into its own two years ago.* Previously it was a fine green line that was overgrown and disused.* We discovered it and started working on it to create a nicer xc line to Bottletop and its now an alternate to the Neds chunder to swamp route.

We've also been working with other builders and maintainers to decommission certain sensitive trails for winter.* Sometimes (but not all the time) we've left signs there explaining why we're doing this.* If its not obvious, some lines don't handle wet-weather riding well at all.** For the late fall, winter and early spring months we deactivate these trails.** Note that everytime we do this we're either the builder of those trails or work with the builder of those trails.* Please feel free to email us about a closure if you have questions.** Please do respect the closure as a gesture to the builders.

Perhaps we are old-fashioned but we do feel communication and respect is important.* Thanks!

We will also be holding our draw for Accommodations at Lynn Valley Bed and Breakfast open to anyone who buys a book from our site until Jan 15th!

Don't forget the Locals' Guide Book or Waterproof Map would make a great Christmas Present!

I absolutely loved Seymour this summer... CBC was nasty, and Ned's Atomic Dust bin was awesome! Wish we had more trails like those here. You guys got it right.

I'm on the Mach 5 chasing down my wife on the Mach 5.7 - Kudos to the FVMBA for such a progressive fun line. Built by Ewan with a $ 40,000 grant with the support of the City of Abbotsford, and Community Futures Fraser Valley. 6.2kms ~ 305m elev drop. Mostly downhill but with 10min climb in the middle.. Fast, great sightlines, flows
