    Kona warranty?

I cracked my Coiler last week, has anybody had any experience with them warranting their product and what kind of turn around time I'm looking at. Keep in mind I didn't void the warranty, I never did any modifications, stunts, jumps or racing, I only rode it to the liquor store to get cigarettes.

Kona has some kind of a warranty as one of the guys I ride with regularly cracked his (Stinky I believe?) and he is now on a new frame (I believe he even switched models)

    Call em on Monday.

Thanks for the reply, I wouldn't mind switching to a new "Stinky Six", I'll let you know how it pans out.

The Coiler only carries a one year warranty against defects for the original owner. If it's been longer than a year, or you're not the original owner, they'll probably cut a screaming crash replacement deal.

The warranty says 4 years on the frame if its not Downhill or Out of bounds bikes. They show the coil-air as an enduro/ free-ride. If it doesn't get warrantied and I have to pay I'm gonna consider another six inch travel bike that's beefier. Does anybody know of something with an 1 1/2 headset so I can run a single crown fork. I miss throwing x-ups?

What year? If it's the grey one in your pictures... The Coiler was considered an out of bounds frame. One year warranty. The new Coil-Air is different.

Why do you need a beefier bike or any 6 inch bike to ride to the liquor store? Obviously there's more to the story... A story that is told by the pictures in your gallery... What you're doing isn't really outside of the bike's capabilities... unless your spring rate is way off.

Porn also. I don't want my computer to catch any cyber S.T.D.'s.
That's a bummer I was hoping they'd warranty it. It failed all along the bottom of the weld between the head tube and the bottom tube. I want something beefier to step it up and hit bigger rougher stuff. Well it doesn't hurt to ask. In the mean time I'll ride my hard tail until I here from them. As far as my local Kona dealer is concerned I just used it to get porn and smokes.
I've known the owner for over 15 years now and "just riding along" is a trite cliche.

Well...Im about to see how they deal with a frame problem. the top tube on my 08 unit is just about broken in two. the bike isn't even a year old, and I have a warranty through the shop i got it from, so I don't think ill have a problem.

Anyone know if they replace with the same model year frame, or bump to the new equivalent? the only reason I ask is that I don't like the color of the 09 (all black).

They offered me a crash replacement, and I could've bought the same frame from Wheel World for the same price. I asked them to work with me on it and got no reply. I was given a Santa Cruz and have will not deal with Kona ever again.

    Kona dealer here...

l had to warranty only a few frames through the years of being a Kona dealer.
for first owners, l never had any issues with them -- unless it was a frame no longer in production. did l miss it, were you within the warranty time frame?

l know the Coiler design is different

who did you talk to at Kona? Ed in warranty or just your LBS people?

if the frame is different, there's always the exchange policy: buying up, swap for a different frame... (swap for something that retails for the same price). Can't blame them if they don't have the same type of frame to give you.

ever warranty an electronic product (same deal-e-o)

    just random thoughts

They offered me an 07 Coiler Delux frame with rear shock which i didn't need. I I ll have to find my old draft to find out who in corparate I talked to. No custermer service no loyalty. I stand behind my work they should do the same. Oh well the new bike is much better.

I dropped my bike off at Madcat bikes, and they took care of it for me. They called kona and had a new frame on the way within 30 minutes. I should be rolling again by the end of the week. Kona and Madcat kick ass.

Just found a crack on my stinky 2006. It is located in the middle of the seat tube, not even close to any weld. Pretty strange place for a crack?

No, not really. The crack is about 20 cm down. About the same place as where the seat post ends.
