    KARPIEL whats it worth?

Alright I have a 2002 Karpiel Disco with a FOX DH shock with remote resivoir and the standard TC. I was thinking of selling it a King Steelset, Race Face cranks, BB and evil giude. What do you think would be fair? I know what I need to get a new frame to replace it so proabaley around that amount.

Yeah the last couple of years Yhan? has been doing the one man show and supposedley he cut off one of his fingers a little while back. That about what I was thinking. The bike feels good I just don't need a true DH rig right now.

I think Zedro may have a point - but you could always try to get 1k - there are alot a stupid people around (by stupid, I mean people who will buy a "Bender" bike just because, without thinking about what may happen with any warranty issues, etc...)

sell it for whatever you can to the un-informed. the minute you break a derailleur hanger, you can throw the whole thing in the trash. that means that derailleur hanger is worth like $500-$1000. Ouch!

Hey M1 they don't use derailleur hangers. And you won't bend the rear stay it is 1/2" thick. Lets see I am trying to get into DH and oh yeah I got $2000 dollars burning a hole in my pocket on a bike that comes with a one year warranty. You could be like Travis up here and rip the headtube off your M1 so many times that Intense wouldn't fix it any longer. His torch may not be running again yet but it should be in the near future.

that was only towards the companies demise. That would appear quite fast.

still think everyone should stay clear of them anyways...

What type of aluminum requires heat treating all? I have never heard this before. Sticking the frames in ovens doesn't seem to hard.

Just sold my girlfriends 2001 FSR Palmer replica and it is just as stiff left to right in the rear. I had a DHR that I just sold it is a little less stiff. Not when riding it but when moving wheel in the frame. I weight like 200lbs it feels fine.

I ment Minx not Baggs sorry guys.

Danny Minx was riding one for a while and he was a top 10 finisher in semi-pro. I say him and his friends case his bike multiple time on ths 30-35 foot rock triple up here and it seemed fine. He was on gotta see this TV jumping from street to street over the small river in the bay area and ate it upon landing? He never got any money for that.

any type that has the T6 designation (ie. 6061-T6, T6 being the treatment designation). Also its more than just sticking it in an oven; it has to be solution heat treated and quenched in oil, then aged, with alignment processes in between.

So besides there maybe a warranty issue the frame is almost 3 years old do you all think $700 ish is a good deal? I am going to pay less than that for the new frame I want so I am still okay.

my opinion is about a grand....... In my mind the problem with that frame is it's poorly designed in the repect it has to run 2 shocks to get the job done....It just screams ineffiecnt...that aside, how hard must it be to set up two shocks in the rear to get it "feel" right...? Yeah in your add you should mention that it's uber beefy and that bender rode one and even finding a picture of one of his HUGE! drops to go along with it.... Play it up to those people that need to have a bike that XYZ pro rides... and of course dont forget to mention it was only used on sundays to get you to church while riding nothing bigger then curb drops and XC rides....or that's it's "too much" for you.... that ought to cover all the bases :P

    say whaaaaa?

the custom APOCALYPSE that Bender rode had two shock, one of them to add rebound damping when the other one blew up because it was running a ton of compression for those 50ft drops. The Disco is a different frame.

do you mean you won't bend the der. hanger? my bro's friend did, it sucked, and he cracked the frame.
I'd sell it for like $1000 and see what happens. good luck

Zedro is actually correct (can't believe I said that), and thats coming from a current Karpiel owner himself. The frame realisticly is worth about $400-$500, not that its a bad frame, if it is indeed a 2002 frame and has the newer links and longer shock. But having Karpiel currently out of business (who knows if he'll ever be back) makes the frame worth less because there will be difficulty obtaining parts. If his business was still going strong, the frame would be worth between $750-$1000.
