That's good viewin'...watching that house get blown away is pretty amazing.

We get a lot of tornados here in Kansas...unfortunately there haven't been any near where I live yet this year. Although there have been a lot of big storms...

i saw a water spout this last winter. for those that don't know, a water spout is a tornado over the ocean. just off the coast of goleta, in between the oil rigs, it was a-twistin for about 10 minutes from the clouds all the way down to the water.
i'm thinking about gettin some zodiacs and starting a water spout chasing team. if anyone wants in, pm me.
    "60 seconds till the spout!"
    "go! go! go!"
"shiver! deploy the spout data pod!"
"there's no time! we're right in it's path!"
    "deploy! deploy!"
"pod deployed! get us the fuc outta here!"
    "go! go! go!"

i was driving down the 101, looked out over the ocean and saw the thing. i couldn't believe it. first thing i thought was "where's my vid or still camera?". i pulled over and watched it till it vaporized right before my eyes. it was cool, but wicked lookin.

we can where wetsuits, lifesaver vests, helmets and helmet cams. we'll just drive the zodiacs straight into the spout, get sucked up and tossed out over the ocean. swim back to the zodiac, and download the helmet cam footage. that footage would rake in some doe for sure. we'll be famous extreme spout chasers.

no. a typhoon is what a hurricane is called when it occurs in either the Pacific or Indian oceans.

those "water spouts" are called, ironically enough, water spouts. A water spout is composed of swirling air and spray. and i hunt them.

Not just over the ocean. I've seen smaller ones out on Lake Erie when I was fishing.

Occasionally they'll actually suck fish up out of the water and drop 'em elsewhere, sometimes on land.

    Here's one on Lake Erie:

Bob's anti-gravity beer gut would prevent that from happening.
