I wouldn't get too excited, they are slated to be department store bikes according to Dorel who now owns the IH brand.

IH was big in the chain sporting goods stores like Dicks and Sports Authority. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Dorel uses the IH brand mainly for them, and then throw in a few higher end IH bikes to try to give the brand some respect.

I doubt they'll sell them in mass merchant stores like Walmart. But who knows they sell Mongoose in both Walmart's and LBS.

I couldn't be happier with my '09 sachem 4. Glad to see some confirmation of a comeback, but I hope they still make some decent bikes.

I seriously doubt it. Dorel simply bought the IH name at auction.

Actually, IH licensed the ICT patent from Ellsworth in Jan 09, long before they were liquidated in bankruptcy court, and sold to Dorel for $5.2mil in July 09. So no one knows whether or not that license agreement was ever finalized, paid for or will ever be implemented. There has been no mention of ICT through IH since they went belly up.

But as of Oct. 09, this was Dorel's official statement:

"Dorel Industries will leverage the recently acquired Iron Horse brand to gain market share in the sporting goods channel where the company hasn't previously had a position, according to Martin Schwartz, chief executive officer of Dorel."

So while it may not be Walmart and Target selling IH bikes, it most likely will be places like Dick's, REI, etc.

Considering how good most other companies are, who cares if IH is making a comeback? Not like they were absolutely stellar to begin with.

I didn't think they would either. I'm going to have to start hoarding spare Sunday parts.

IH went out of business, and their assets were liquidated to pay creditors. DW was one of those creditors, so I bet he got some money from the proceeds of the liquidation.

One of those assets was the IH name and trademarks. So although Dorel bought the IH name and trademarks for 5.2mil. They have none of the liabilities or obligations of the original IH Bike Company, they simply bought the rights to the name.

Yeah any obligations of the old IH ended with the bankruptcy.

Depending on if dw was a secured or unsecured creditor would determine how much if any money he/they got out of that.

And Cannondale offers about half of the bikes that they used to offer. No more Judge, Prophet, Chase, and Perp the only fun frames they made.
