Neither of these cranks are marketed to the weight concious. Their main atribute is strength. So is the more expensive one stronger or stiffer? If you want to save weight ride XC cranks. I've never broken one or seen one broken in person. The Race Face Turbines on my V10 have 7 seasons of downhilling on them and weigh 430 grams.

I too, ride xc cranks on my DH race bike. Granted, I'm a light 'feller but all my riding buds do the same and some of them are pushing 200+. Never seen an issue as long as I've been on the mountain.

While these are tough cranks. I bent one of the arms on my holzfeller's. Not much, but enough to mess with the chainline on my ss.

i bent the XT crank on my kona.

thought it was only the pedal that was bent. I replaced that not too long ago but can still feel the swiveling on that arm..
