    Norco is a good bet!

I have a 2004 RMX Team in mint (I mean absolutely perfect) and I'm selling it for $3000 USD. The RMX is an extremely nice bike, handbuilt in Canada, high quality, etc. MSRP is super high for the bike, but mine is overkill for my riding.

Other than that, I can only recommend you buy a bike made in America or Canada. The ones built in Taiwan like Specialized and Giant are probably just as good in quality, but your money is better spent on domestic bikes!

I don't think high quality and not that expensive go together. I guess you get what you pay for. I personally like Turner DHRs, they are (the frames) somewhat reasonable. I know the retail is like 2200 but they can be had for a lot less. Slap a Boxxer on it and you got a race bike.
