    He's a Balla, a Balla, a True Shock Collar!

anyone ever heard that song? Anyway on the topic of shock collars (preload collars, whatever the coil preload adjuster thing is) can u buy replacement ones? there's a slight change i blew mine into 4 pieces today, and don't feel like replacing the shock quite yet...

in case i'm not being clear, its the thing on the threaded part of the shock up by the piggyback that you screw up or down to adjust your coils preload...

yea, now my coil is like a wet noodle...

Shock is an Avalanched 5th element progressive shock, 9.5"x3"

I have a video with the sound of it blowing up, and the video of my realizing its gone... ill post them and pics later, i gotta go eat some fancy Chinese right now!

I'm pretty sure you can get a replacement with a little email or phone calling, but I'm more interested into how this happened lol.

I emailed progressive, ill try avvy tonight or tomorrow.

I did a new jump I built, and was hauling balls, so i pumped a roller as hard as I could to keep my speed up for a huge MOTO table I've been trying to clear, and when I pumped it the thing just snapped. It's probably been on there since 2002 though...

Hey Moosey, thanks for sharing such an intimate moment! It makes me smile as I'm sure I sound very similar to you (add some french bad words on top of it) when I discover something wrong or broken on my bike.

It was one turn past where Craig set it. I'm guessing it was the original from 2002 or something, and was just done. I talked to progressive suspension, and they gave me the email of the company that services their shocks now, so I'll see what happens.

I did the exact same thing last month to my 5th Element on my M1. It shot off like a freaking bullet! Lucky me that I had a back up shock and took the coller off that one. Good luck.

Well, I just talked to Craig at Avalanche. he said that i will need to send the shock in to see what happened and they will have to disassemble it to replace it. The new Progressive distributer and part supplyer over in the UK didnt say anything about that. Does anyone know if i need to send it in? Cant i just remove the bottom of the shock, slide the coil out, put the new collar on, and then put it all back together?

So can replace it at home or does a ship need to do it?
