    help save the North Shore

    http://www.nsmb.com/community/mountainview_01_04.php

Access to the trails on Mt. Fromme is at risk of being "limited". Fromme is the famous 'North Shore' mountain that you most often see in the videos. Send an e-mail via the link to the District of North Vancouver to show your support and help keep the access open.

The District of North Vancouver has no authorized Mountain Bike Trails on its lands. Any so-called Mountain Bike Trails, courses, etc. which are located on District of North Vancouver lands are there illegally, and as such, the District accepts no liability or responsibility for those illegally-created "mountain bike " trails. At this time, the District of North Vancouver is working with the North Shore Mountain Bike Association (a volunteer non-profit organization) and other outdoor recreation organizations to reach an agreement to designate specific trails as Volunteer-maintained and signed trails. There are legal liability problems, control, environmental, safety and parking problems which have to be solved; as well as public consultation and District Council approvals to be gained before any mountain bike trails would become authorized in any way.

We need to show them our solidarity.

    when did this happen?

as a trail worker and member of NSMBA I've not heard this before? We've been working with the district for years, when did this new "limited trails" thing arise and who is the contact at DNV?

    that pertains ONLY to

the frog pond on Lower Fromme, a very specific area of the Mtn NOT including any trails except the one trail through Mtnview Park, just north off Coleman. The rest of Fromme is NOT part of this study and open house, Jesus, FYI, Jim

    thanks and

in the 4 or so years I've belonged, I never get the emails, go figure. I did get the bulletin via snail mail from North Vancouver, district of. Again, it's the frog pond, not the Fromme trails; it only concerns the trail for Mountainview Park. Parking isn't part of it, nor is the rest of Fromme, that comes later to the best of my knowledge.

    Later Jim

This is the only email I have from the NSMBA..........

    Happy New Year!

After many open houses and public discussion, the FINAL Mountain View
Park Drop In / Open house will be held on

    Jan 24th Until February 1st 2004 at
Karen Magnussen recreation Center in Lynn Valley in the Lobby
(2300 Kirkstone Rd, North vancouver - accessed from Mt. Hwy or Lynn
    Valley Rd)

This is our opportunity to see the FINAL PREFERRED OPTION and to
    COMMENT on the Option.
We feel that it is very important for Mountain bikers to be a part of
this process and to show our concern for Mountain View Park as an
important access point to our Trails on Mt. Fromme.
Please go in and fill in a comment form and express that mountain
bikers should be involved in creating this trail as well as all trails on
    Mt. Fromme.

You can also respond online at:

So considering it's Canada Post you must be getting all the info about a month after it's been resolved! Thanks for the proposal details.
