it seems like a pretty decent deal, although I've heard that before 2003 the AC's were very not strong. I'd try and find an 03 or 04 if I were you.

Here is a current thread on the Colorado Front Range Forum that may be of help to you AC's

the AC's are sweet. theres a guy who comes in to my shop all the time who totaly abuses his. and its still running. giant just knows how to build a bike. all bikes, mountain and road. i dont think they're given enough credit

ya, no doubt about that, I've seen plenty of abused AC's. I just would be more inclined to put my hard earned towards an 03 or newer as I have heard they are more structurally sound

I had the same bike, and they're great. They're not rooftop hucking bikes, but they ride nicely.

    Buy it and enjoy!

They are a pretty sweet bike ( I speak from experience) Although I would NOT jump off a roof to flat (like mentioned in the previous post up above) it is holding up to me quite well.

For the price, I think your getting a pretty good deal. The stock chain guide is JUNK and can ONLY be run if you convert to a SINGLE RING in the front.

Dude - Supergo has the '03 frame (which is way better than previous years with its' hydrformed tubeset and Manitou Swinger) for - 299 Brand New - right now. Buy one, you won't regret it. And as far as dropping stuff - I've taken mine of 9' and wouldn't hesitate (for the frame's sake) to take it off bigger.

I have never personally ridden or even seen one of these bikes. A guy on here BJ (Australian kid) has a friend who had an Ac. I think he was having quite a few problems with it. He was taking it off some good sized stuff but I think they had to replace parts of it a few times. BJ could tell you this with more detail though.
He had a Junior T on his...
    Good luck.
I think it would perform okay.

the pre-03 models aren't supposed to have Triple Clamps on them- the headtube junction is not gusseted good enough (pre-hydro), also the seattube on 02's tend to easily break by the rocker mounts if you land w/ all your weight on the seat. Also, you will want the swinger w/ this style frame to reduce bob- personally I would not buy an 02 unless you are going to make it an all around trail bike instead of fr/hucker and can get it for under $300.

I'd say 2003 or later if you're going to abuse it. I picked up one of those frames from Supergo a couple days ago (in store) @ $299 with a Swinger 4 way. I feel pretty confident that it'll take some serious abuse as I know a couple ppl here locally going pretty big on them. The price also helped in the decision. Prices should be coming down on these all over as this is/was the last year for them (I think). Right now at the local Supergo, there are full 03s for $1100.

I'd pass on an 02, but that's just my opinion based on what I ride and want to ride. I'm also not fond of RS rear shox. There are deals out there, ride what you got and wait for the right one.

Here's my ('right one') $299 frame with all my hardtail stuff on it. The wheels, fork and cranks will be making their way back to the hardtail as I upgrade.

    Good luck finding a deal.
