Finely got the DHX installed on the Demo 9

It took a bit of jerry rigging, but i got the DHX to fit perfectly. The cartridge bearing shock mount on the demo was tricky, i needed to cut a reducer tube to 13.5 mm to basically mimic the swinger mount. Anyway, long story short, the shock feels soo much better then the swinger. Here is a couple of shots.

Good job T's. I told you the DHX kills the Swinger.

it def. feels way differant. Seems much smoother because pro-pedal doesn't have the initial stiffness that SPV has. I cant wait to jump something with it.

I have installed DHX on my demo 8 and it feels much better then Swinger....but what kind of bushing did you use? I had some problem to install DHX on DEMO 8..

i used the stainless steel tube similar to the front mount, but cut it down to like 13.5 or 13.7 mm. The tube needs to be the same width as the shock but have an 8mm hole for the bolt. Then i used the stock bearing washers to keep the shock from moving side to side.

Thanks Jesse, I am def. looking forward to it. I found out through fox that Specialized will be putting the DHX 5 on the demo 9 for 2006! So it looks like my ride is up to date until 2006.

Hey how much time did you get on the Swinger in comparison to the DHX? I'm on a Swinger right now, and have no problems with it. I run it open, with only 50lbs of SPV pressure, how did you have yours set up? Any reasons why I should buy a DHX for my Demo8? Why does everyone here say the DHX is 'better' that a Swinger? Significantly lighter?

I sold my demo 9 frame and ti spring, but i do still have my shock if anybody is interested. I will sell if for a reasonable price. BTW, it only has like 4 rides on it. I just didn't have a place close by to ride. PM me if you are interested in the shock.

    Hi Mate,

Is the shock a DHX or a Swinger?

If it's a DHX how much you want for it?

    Thanks,

    ...

Yeah installing any shock on a Demo requires some slight modification.I had to make my own mounting hardware for my ROCO.I had my friend machine new bushings and spacers so it would mount up.Hope you like the DHX.
Like my Grandma always said,"Why buy the cow when you can get the sex for free?"
