extremely cheap carbon V10 on craigslist, stolen?

Hello all, there is an extremely cheap carbon V-10 in the Houston Craigslist. In my opinion almost too good to not be a stolen bike, so if you recently lost a carbon V-10 check it out. If you are the seller and its completely legit than I apologize, just trying to look out for fellow mountain bikers.

I would just ask to see a reciept for the purchase and if reluctant to show or you get a serial # and run it thru the area he lives and find out if its legit or HOT!!

Yeah, come on, who'd sell it for that price? Stolen or a scam for sure. Should report the person to the police.

Yes a scam, but the only thing that was stolen were the pics.

Seen this a bunch lately. Someone copies pictures, etc from a legit bike sale (usually ebay) then re-posts it all over the place at a super low price. It only takes a few suckers to try and buy it for the guy to make some dough, or if it's craigslist you get robbed when trying to make the transaction.

The person that posted this does not have the bike and never did!

    Seems legit.

I got a response from the seller lol.

    Hello,

I still have the SantaCruz V-10 Carbon DH Bike available for sale at the price of US$1600.00. I will start my email by telling you that I'm currently out of country so pick up isn't an option. I am working with the "Save The Children Foundation" and now I am in London,United kingdom and I will stay here for at least 6 months.

If you really want to buy it, I will have to deliver it to you from here. We can use Parcel Force which is a very good UK shipping company and I trust them. I will pay all shipping fees and also I will put an insurance on the package just to be sure. You will have 10 business days inspection period,in which you can test it or verify it and make sure it is as I described it in my ad.

So if you want to buy it,please let me know and I will explain to you how we can do this in the safest way for both (even if I am here and you are there).

    Thanks
    Adam

    WOW....sketchy much?

That almost happened to me a few years ago at ebay....one day the seller (a he) was in washington, the next day a she, mailed me from ireland telling me to make a more "personal" direct transaction. Crazy.

When I sold my M1 a year ago I had a similar experience. Someone contacted me and told me that he was on an aircraft carrier out to sea and couldn't do it himself but would have an agent pick it up and pay for it. He then wanted me to forward money via Western Union for fees even though I was selling and should be the one getting paid. I knew it was a scam from the beginning and basically told him 'screw you.' It's too bad many people aren't honest.
