    The end of Plattekill?

    Hey,
It looks like Plattekill may stop the DH thing as they apear to be selling all their rental bikes. The rumor is they will only be open for racing next year.

"LAST WEEKEND OF THE BIKING SEASON this weekend Nov 6-7. Open for recreational riding and racing. "Last Chance for Glory" DH event, Sunday 11am. Slalom event has been cancelled.

Join us for 'Point Series' awards ceremony Sunday after the race.

Used rental bikes for sale - KHS, Mongoose and GT at discounted prices - taking offers. Email newsalert@plattekill.com if interested.

Thanks for your racing and riding support and hope to see you this weekend for one last blowout weekend of riding and racing this season!

Isn't a pretty normal procedure for resorts to sell their rental bikes at the end of the season to make way for new bikes next year?

Yeah, rental bikes get pretty well trashed during the season and most places unload their rentals at the end of the year.

They're selling their (old, beat-up) rental bikes because they got a deal with TURNER and FOX. They got Turner DHRs at a pretty good price plus they were able to become an actual "Fox Demo Dealer" so that they can run DH40s on their rental bikes. This info was as of a couple months ago, so things might have changed as far as what they're looking to rent for next year, but its definitely not a sign that they're closing.
