What's the course like? I was thinking about doing it, but back in April I got a flyer for it that said something like "the dh course is rideable on any bike" (or something like that), so I decided not to do it, thinking it would be dull.

EDIT: here's a copy and paste of what kinda turned me away

The downhill course winds down a 400 vertical foot, spectator-friendly hillside which overlooks the Pacific Ocean at Elings South Park area. The course is designed for any type mountain bike which includes a 200 yard sprint-pedaling section "

    I rode the course

I like it a lot. It's like a slalom/ DH course. Lots of huge berms, some jumps, and switchbacks.

Junior-x huh? Ride hard man... Should be a fun race for sure. I did some work on it w/ Ed Brown. It's looking pretty fun. The berms are getting a lot better. I can't wait to ride it. I think this will be an awesome event because there won't be all this pressure. It's such a small thing that it'll be super fun just to ride with all the local guys and gals. I'm really looking forward to it. (especially the BMX open track!!!) I hope to see you all there!! Peace.

yah, i was a little turned off by the description too, but it's still pretty fun. good berms and some fun jumps. i'm not racing my downhill rig, i'll be racing it on the enduro with a bolt-on 26/24 wheelset.

    one cross

i think the best way to describe the course would be either a 1X or a 2X race course.

Man, Jack, you a$$ wipe... Race the darn race dude. That is lame, just because of the course. You should race to support the park and hang out w/ your friends. That's what it's all about. I'm racing my beast on it. No quick little slalom bike for me!! I'm gonna have such a blast tomorrow. I hope you reconsider bud. Peace.

    What a mess

This was by far the worst race I have ever done. For one, they couldn't even give out medals, because they messed the times all to hell. They stated that they would post them on the internet and mail the prizes out...what a joke! The worst part was that they had a NORBA guy keeping the time...imagine if they would have messed up at a National race...

Also, Ed (I think that was his name) was so stressed because things were going sideways, that he was being a complete d!ck to everyone and anyone. I think they had more people show up than they expected, but next year they will have a lot less; I don't think too many people are planning to come back...
