    Downhill Stinky

What modifications can I make to my 2004 stinky to make it more of a Downhill bike?

the first and third can get upto 8" with longer shock (first is setup that way, the third setup for 6.5"). The second is max 7" with the longer shock.

i bet aroud 8-9 but to make it more of a downhill bike you should:

Big tires 2.5 to 3 wide
big fork and rear shock 8-9
    differant gears
    Big brakes

Hey zedro, (not to hijack the thread) but do you know if there is any plates or links that'll work on a Banshee Chapperal to make it say 7"??

you will not get more than 7" out of that frame. And DH bikes certainly do not want 3" tires.

have to contact DangerBoy or BETD, i'm no longer making plates. Have some 1999-2000 model sets tho.

i don't think they have any upgrade plates for banshees being made. i think they would assume if you are buying a banshee and you want more than 6" just get a scream. that's my guess.

It won't be a worldcup/Norba Winning design these days, But if it's what all you have... Then Pushing the Rear Shock so it's valved for YOU and YOUR RIDING that would be a HUGE help all around. If it's the Base model Stinky, look at getting something done to the fork either replace or get a Super T damper in there. Obviously a guide or your Preference (E-13, MRP, Mr. Dirt, Etc). and consider tubeless.
Tire wise... this is just me, but I really think the Hutchinson Octopus would be a great Tire, Light (980 grams for a UST, 2.3") has a nice Highroller-esque tread.

All of these upgrades (maybe not the chain tensioner) will benefit any Stinky be it Trails, FR, or DH. So it's not like you are wasting $$$$ by doing them.

Besides, its not even built yet...

The guy who won the AR series sport class last year was on a stinky with a single crown fork... He owned
The Super T you have is really a very good fork. I'd take that fork over a Fox 40 or a Boxer unless i was entering a fashon contest instead of a race

Does that mean that Arkansas is flat?
    Tony
    is making a comeback.

Turns out that five years of not mountain biking, really makes one strive to get back to it.
