The flash caused it to look a bit more washed out than it really is. Has a bit more depth to it, will have to get it in some natural light soon. I was hoping for a Works raw finish but I'm pleasantly surprised at how good the Iron grey looks.

I just had my hands on some of the first painted Maelstrom protos. I def could be on one of those by next season.

I'm expecting a complete build around 33lbs for the SS. I just weighed the frame at 8.90 lbs. This is with the DHX 5 and a steel spring.

So here's the build, comes in just a hair over 33 lbs at the moment:

Frame: 08 Med 6.6 SS, DHX 5, 450 lb spring
    Fork: 08 36 Talas RC2
HS: FSA Orbit Extreme Pro 1.5R
    Stem: Thomson X4, 50 mm
    Bars: Gravity Lite @ 26.5"
    Brakes: Martas, 180mm F&R
    Shifter: X0
    Grips: ODI Rogue
    Clamp: Hope QR
    Post: Thomson
    Saddle: Tioga Spyder (temp)
Cranks: Saint, 175, single 32t ring
    Guide: Gamut P20
    Pedals: Atom Lab Trail King
Wheels: Green HD Kings laced to Arrow FRX's with DT Comps (temp?)
    Tires: 2.4 ADvantages

Soon to have and XT FD, Stinger, and an X0 shifter to match. Need to pick a permanent saddle and decide if I'm going to leave the Kings or switch to my Hadley/DT wheel set. Prob to a Ti spring at some point, maybe a CCDB.

Gotta finish some cable routing and run a new rear brake line and then she'll be picture worthy.

Ok, worthless with out pics but got a first ride in today. Super impressed at this point. Strikes a balance between stable and playful. I didn't push it real hard today, got on a trail with a decent climb followed by some good downhill corners and a few jumps. It manuals well and changes lines quickly but is not at all hyper like my UFO-DS was. It definitely has a more settled and confidence inspiring feel. We took a detour of the trail to a spot to hit some drops, I booted her off a nice little 12 footer with a bit of a bumpy landing. The run in is short, the landing is a bit of a snipe and the run-out is a bit bumpy. I was able to easily accelerate to speed on the short run-in, correct at the lip and in the air to hit the lander dead on, and still have enough sus to soak up the chunder in the run-out. Responsive yet forgiving, I'm stoked.

Headed to Moab this weekend, hopefully snap a few pics in action.

Near the 2nd car, up the hill. Size of drop varies with speed. Can probably go as small as 4 or 5' or as big as about 20'. Very cool spot to session.

Yeah they really do suck hard. I HATE stickerless frames but I'd rather have that then these ugly things. Who designed them? What were they thinking? Are they blind? Are they just retarded? I hope not, cause then I'd feel bad for making fun of them
