    Does anybody recognize this frame?

It's being listed as a specialized, but I've never seen anything like that from specialized.

Really? I thought it looked big-hittish but I looked around and found nothing that was it exactly. Is it an older frame? How are these frames generally regarded? I'm thinking about buildin' a bike out of it.

No, it is not the big hit.
It looks very much like the old DH FSR or whatever it was called.
It is a replica of the old bike Shaun Palmer rode.

Jorgen hit the nail on the head. It is a Late 90's early 2000 FSR-DH.

What do you guys think? Would it make a pretty sweet bike?

It is not bighit in that it uses a 26" rear wheel, and probably has a longer wheelbase.
If it is in good condition, has new bearings and a "new" generation rear shock it would be a nice playbike for shuttleruns.

It has a Fox rear shock, not sure if it's newer or older. Any clue on how much the frame might be worth?

It's got a Vanilla RC. It was good in its time, but now its almost old and obsolete. I would seriously look at getting a different bike..

    Specialized had an

issue with them cracking as well. I would look for something else unless you are geating a great deal.

I saw a guy racing one last weekend in WP. He seemed to be doing just fine. If it's a great deal then go for it.

Would $300 be a great deal?

    Thanks for all the replies

More or less. $300 is probably about the best price for you and the seller.

Honestly, I'd offer 200 but not more than 250. Hell, I sold my entire 99 Super 8 for 500 bucks. DH/Free ride bikes and frames take a beating, they aren't supposed to "hold value". You'll proably "out grow" that frame in a few years any way. You'll want something newer with better technology at some point in the near future.

Heck man.... I'll sell you an '05 big hit with two rear shocks, a fox float r and seinger/seat/seat post and headseat for $450. Let me know if you want some pictures.
