Do Different Brakes Need Different Mounts?

Oh poo. This is probably common knowledge, but do different brands of brakes need different mounts?

i just tried mounting my new avid elixir brake on a hayes mount, and it don't work... is something wrong or is it just a new mount i need?

is there a place down in mammoth to buy avid elixir mounts? im headed down tonight.

with Avid calipers, you need to use their "cps" washer system or it wont fit. when you use these washers, your Hayes mount will work.

yes, you can but finding washers big enough might be tricky. their "CPS" washer system mainly helps to align the caliper on the rotor....but even that doesnt work 100%
if you bought your brakes new, they should be in the box

Ok that makessense. I got the brakes with a used bike, so I just replaced the cable and am trying to mount them before I bleed them. I live in Fallon where everything is janky... ill make something work.

When I first read your post I thought you were talking about the difference between IS and Post Mount. Those CPS washers are pretty sweet when you need to shim calipers.
