That jump is too small. seriously, I like it, but I have to grab brakes rolling into it.

it's an illusion, the rider actually shot out of the tube you see there in the photo (no, really).

It's true. That picture just makes it look closer than it is. The cannon is actually about 150 feet further up the trail, and a secret tunnel leads to it, launching you out to the landing about 175 feet below, where he's about to land (no, really).

OT but sometimes I browse the purgatory bikes website just to fantasize about what I would get if I was rich. Love the design on those rigs.

On-topic, that picture of the cannon jump is from the trail update that diablo had on their website right after the jump was built. There's a bunch of other pics of riders hitting it in the diablo forum on RM but this one does show the distance the best I think.
Still, too big for this noob to hit, even if I wasn't on the injured list til august.

2nd that. With no brakes you'll flat bottom it ever time. It's just a TINY bit annoying because you have to figure out exactly how much brake to scrub. But still really fun.

Then maybe we just need to find a loooong straight smooth trail so you and rollertoaster can ride on and never have to make ANY adjustments and never have to use your brakes?
Maybe you two should go to a waterpark instead. No brakes.
Jump it onto something off of something or over something.

There's more to freeriding than dirt jumps.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. There are plenty of big features that take a little brake modulation to get dialed. Regardless of whether or not you need some brakes, its a good size jump.

Don't be a douche, this isn't pinkbike. I'm just saying it could be adjusted a little to make it better. When I build a feature and it's not right, I fix it. If it needs to be totally ripped out and re-done so be it.
A properly built freeride trail should require no (or very little) brakes, and almost no pedaling. Straight trails suck!

I don't think anyone was being a douche. You just came off as being a little cocky. You could have been a little more clear with what you were trying to say. Rather than saying the jump is too small, its the biggest jump at Diablo, you could have said that it would flow a little better if the landing was pushed out a few feet.

Oh wow, I'm sorry for my words sounding cocky. I said I like the jump but it's too small. I'm about the least cocky person in the world except for when it comes to my work, and I don't work in the bike industry.

I don't appreciate being told to go ride the waterpark with the SCUM!! That is what pissed me off.

That new hip jump looks sick! Cant wait to come out your way and hit that shiz.

Back to the Cannon jump... Well. It is really fun. It gives you some decent air time for sure. I am with the Toaster though, It'd be a bit more fun if you could just sweet-spot the drop and come into the booter pinned and just boost it and style it out. Instead, when you hit the drop perfectly, you have to slow down to hit this next jump. It's almost like there's a penalty for hitting the drop right, whereas... if you case the drop a bit, you'll be set up with PERFECT speed for the jump. Just a little funny. Not a huge deal, just callin it like it is.

Funny you mention a waterpark... One of my buddies down in GA filmed this a few years back:

So much respect to Doug. He's the guy with the bushy beard and beanie.
