    DH Rim suggestions

Hi again, just looking for advice on DH rims for my new frame, probably just going for the rear atm (low on cash) but I need one anyway. I' waiting for the lbs to get my hope rear hub in so in the meantime, I'll look for a rim. I used to run a sun singletrack but I was told they are not strong enough for DH although I dh'd them for a long while. I'm only changing them because they are going on another bike. I really don't know what kind of rim to get...help is appreciated - cheers

I have built several wheelsets by getting parts on eBay, the most recent being new Sun Doubletracks that the hoops only cost me $60.00 for the pair. According to SUN, it is the same extrusion as the Mag 30. So far this wheelset is working great for me.

    Well, I'm running Mavic 729 and 823. The 729 is a tough non-tubeless rim I would suggest.

+1 for WTB Laser DH. Been running these on my do-all RFX for 3 yrs. Wide and tough and a bit lighter than most "real DH" rims. Try Cambria bike, they often have them on special.

Are the 823s 23mm wide? or are they the same width as the 729?

8 means strong tubeless rim 23 mm wide

7 means strong rim 29 mm wide

Scrap the DT FR6.1Ds. They are soft.

mtx's are more all mountain type rims from what i've heard but work ok i'm sure in the right situation. The hubs on the other hand (not the front abbah) i've heard are plauged with breaking.
