    dh helmet junk after concussion?

someone borrowed my kids dh helmet- fox rampage full face
the helmet fit them fine but they ended up crashing hard and got a concussion

wondering if the helmet is now junk. There are no cracks or visual issues but
there is a blister in the paint and a very small bump where the initial hit happened?

I thought I had read that after a hard hit these helmets are designed to be no good. Any ideas?

The helmet is compromised. You can't necessarily see what happened to it, but if he hit his head hard enough for a concussion, he hit the helmet hard enough to damage it.

Unless your kid's life/brain isn't worth the price of a helmet. I'd say whoever borrowed it owes you a helmet anyway.

My fox rampage comp was junk after a hit like that. I pulled out the inner washable liner and you can see a small wrinkle and feel the soft spot in the foam. The outside looks fine.

usually a heavy hit will compromise the chemical bond in the helmet. also helmets are not THAT expensive.

if you're worried enough to post a thread id replace it.

Yup, it's junk. I "mount" all my old DH helmets on the top shelf of my work bench area. Just a nice little monument to my DH riding/crashing. Depending on how old the helmet is, they may be able to offer you a "crash replacement" discount, or something like that.

Junk. Get a new one. Your life could depend on it.
Making shit harder than it needs to be isn't awesome, it's just...harder.
