Crown race spacer? Fork doesn't clear the downtube (x-post)

Posted in the dj forum this morning since it is a DJ bike but figure it will get more views here and I'm in here a lot more...

I originally took the motion control knob off my Argyle and hacked part of the adjuster off to clear the downtune but after preloading the headset a little more the clearance scares me. Do they make a crown race spacer similar to the Ventana one for Kings except universal? I don't have a King headset so the ventana is out. I'm running an internal headset (impact I think) on a Dk Xenia with an Argyle 318... any spacers out there that will work?

Not much you can do. Take it to a machine shop and have them cut a new one that's a bit taller.

i looked around a bit after seeing your post on the DJ forum but couldn't come up with anything either.

I had to deal with the same issue with a 66 but fortunately I have a King headset so I went with the Ventana.

thanks for the replies... It works but I was just looking for the spacer a piece of mind thing. I guess the dremel is going to be taking a few more mms off the adjuster. as long as I can still slide the adjuster knob on to the adjuster qwhen necessary then I'll be fine.

Worried about shaving the adjuster or milling a new race? You can always pony up and buy a King headset.
