    This is cool.

I found this Graphic design program last week. Then my DSL was out for couple days so was playing around with it. Its easy to learn. Made a bike then a ladder drop and that thing from whistler. It animates but gota have the program to see it. Easy way to think up of trail designs.

GMax is basically Discreet 3DSMax's modeling core, stripped-down for game level dev. No Mac version; Max has always been PC-only.

The idea behind GMax was/is to allow people to design their own game levels. Of course, the subliminal suggestion in giving the modeler away for free was to hook people on the Max paradigm and functionality, hoping 3D game dev wanna-be's would eventually bring their skills - and their money - into the full-fledged version of the prog.

A big reason Max is so approachable to the beginner is it's use of parametric primatives to form basic shapes. You then can freeze the geometry and further sculpt the form into a final design. Max, however, is getting long-of-tooth. The core code has been around since the early 90's, and in some areas it shows. There's some much slicker stuff out there now, though the basic skills required to build stuff in 3D remain pretty much the same.

...Yeah, I made a living using Max for many years. Paid the bills, and I can still do certain things almost in my sleep. Kinda like riding a bike: you never forget.

Mess with GMax, it's pretty fun.

That is really cool. I wish there was a program that allowed you to completely spec a bike frame up and see what it looks like that would be cool.
    Nice job

I like your Windowblinds (or other interface thing)...always good to see people using stuff like that. Makes it seem as if you aren't even using a Microsoft product sometimes. Almost. Like the program too. I'd download it but my computer is in the shop. Is it anything like AutoCAD? I'm pretty good at that, but my copy of 3ds max is buggy. My cousin sent it to me.
