Conditions were awesome out on Mt. Toro today. Pretty sure Weir pulled a 3:33

Anyone have pics, or links to their pics? #32B (pink streamers coming from handlebars) Would be excellent IF you have time to search. But any pics overall would be awesome!

Have some practice helmet cam footage of me eating the second berm. Thanks in advance for putting it up Motomonkey.

    Awesome!

I got 6th in the beginner 19-34 class. Not so bad for my first race. I was in third for a while and then 3 out of 5 came in before me.

dirt was incredible, wind was terrible. I felt pretty good in the morning having chosen to move up to sport men's 35-44 and already made one practice run so I figured I would make one more before racetime. Like I said the dirt was incredible and I carried more speed and ran a straighter line coming out of the chute between the two singletracks. It would have been fine but my 5" xc bike with the seat not low enough had me too far forward for the little drop and I bailed just before the OTB moment. I ride flats so I landed on my feet first but I ended up breaking my left fibula so it's cast and crutch time for the next 8 weeks.
Photogs RickR and another were nice enough to help me across the trail and hold my bike so I could remount and coast down to the EMT for a tune-up.
On a high note my son had a good run in 14-15 jr. beg. boys with a sixth place out of 29 riders.

Being a featherweight (135lbs) that wind was really kicking my ass at the start. I ended up sitting on my seat with my face literally behind the stem trying to reduce drag. Too bad about the leg. But congrats to the son!
    I'd huck that...

Les: Sorry to hear that you broke something. Hopefully, you heal quick. Here is a photo of you right two seconds prior to the crash.

BTW: That chute had crashes at it all day.

    Regards
    Rick

Here are mine. Had a good race day. Took 1st in Open Hardtail with a 3:58, and 3rd in Single-Speed on my rigid klunker in a 4:07, that after going through the hole in the lip of one of the berms someone busted open, and having to pull my bike back up and then continue on my way. I figure it would have been a 4:02 - 4:03 run. Not bad for a 60+ y.o. frame with a rider not too far behind.

I bagged my 3rd race (Expert) due to the ever increasing wind, a cramp in my left calf, and no will to make the hike back up. But usually my FS runs are 5-10 seconds faster than my hardtail runs. Suffice to say, I was having a good race day!

... and if we just ... All the video you want!

    Hey All,
An epic race for sure. Rolling green hills with spring flowers in full bloom and white puffy clouds a loft. The dirt was just sticky enough to keep most of the riders in the turns and those who couldn't hang ended up in the rough.

Last race we saw the pros kill it but the rain later in the day may have slowed times a bit but certainly made it wet and cold. “Not this time” said Mother Nature, this week the weather did not disappoint, and vets like Mark Weir, the top finisher, hit this relatively dry course hard.

Anyway, good showing, great course, and better weather. Enjoy this mix-up cut to My buddies band Ribsy's Nickel from Santa Cruz. The song is LIVIN and can be found on iTunes or www.ribsysnickel.com, Thanks Jesse and Ian!

Please! Pass along this video to any and all interested and feel free to post it everywhere!

See you at the next one!

second video even better than the first, nice job. I can see that little drop on the left line of the second chute that got me out of shape, I should have slowed down a little and stayed in the middle. Leg is a little worse than first thought so I will be getting a little surgical intervention in the next couple of days which should make for a quicker recovery and a better outcome. Ride safe,Les
