Broken fram - Trek Session 8

    Hi,
I have just broken my Trek Session 8 2009 frame.
The break is in the rear triangle - next to the chainstay's welding (from both sides).
    Did this happen to anyone?
    Thanks.

The warrenty is for 3 years.
I am still under the warrenty but the break is very troubling me - for the future.

Not surprised. The frame is lighter than most others by a pound or so.

The weight of the frame has nothing to do with the rear triangle issue. The first run of session frames did end up having some sort of known issue with that. If you contact Trek thru a LBS or whatever you should be able to get a updated triangle. (Highland bike park had 1 bike out of their whole fleet have this problem the first year)

Trek has been very good to me and when I broke a earlier version Session 77 frame and made it very easy to get int the session 88.

The only "known" issue related to the low weight is the thinness of the front down tube(Doesn't help with the very prononced curve either) The lower down tube was prone to denting if you rode in a rocky area. I went to home depot and thru a $2. clear thick vinyl tube cut in half and have had no issue riding in NH

Anything listed as freeride or DH under the Trek line is 3 year warranty. Evrything else is lifetime.

Definitely not the first. I've seen one exactly as explained. I wonder if the 2011 stay will fit, it's supposed to have more reinforcement in that area

    We want pics...

On a side note, I have to say this whole "let's build a 30lb DH/FR bike" is bull because for those of us without sponsors throwing new frames our way every year, if we break our super light, super thin, super expensive bike because we cased a 10' gap, we're SOL.

I've cased lots of 10 foot gaps this summer. I just boned my 4th rim on sunday. Frame is still holding fine though

Donno why everybody thinks sessions are made of paper. I've seen 2-3 with dented downtubes, but no more proportionally then any other bikes out there.

I'd love to see pictures though, this is the first time I've heard of one breaking, and I'd like to keep an eye out.

I know a two people that this has happened to. Both got the rear triangle warrantied. Trek didn't warranty the dent that the shock punched in his frame after the chain stay snapped on one of them though.
