    Have a blast!!!

Heres what u do. My brother broke his leg and was home for 2 months. If he was awake he was gerking. On strong pain pills. He learned to control the VCR w/ his good foot!!!!! He gained about 20 lbs. He ran up an 2000$ + bill w/ the weed guy. He stared at the garage that held his brand new 6 speed GTO that he couldnt drive!!!!(Got his payments deferred til he was working). The food delivery joints knew his voice when he called. No need to give address. Sh!t our guys in the area were bringing in UPSTAIRS to him. In other words he had a great focking time. Although he scremed like a ***** when it happened. When they set it he screamed so loud the cops came into the ER. Have fun and do ANYTHING(gerk eat and smoke) or NOTHING(slepp and get disability checks) either way u dont have to decide til noon or whenever it is u get up now.

    gettin hurt sucks

i know exactly how u feel. i havent been able to ride for the past 3 weeks, becuase of small injuries. and when i stepped on a screw and it went into my bone i was out for 8 weeks with a tube goign into my arm, to my heart! it really blows. but im starting to ride now and it feels soo good.

in conclusion, both times SMT recommended play with myself with lotion. hahaha dont watch to many bike videos otherwise ull want to ride more. just watch more of the other types of movies. goodluck

I broke my sternum and have been more or less off the bike for 8 months now. Basically, you're stuck learning how to master the ultra-refined skills of fat bastards around the world. You know you've attained full fat bastard status when you find cheese in your bellybutton and enough crumbs in your couch to make a casserole.

Seriously, about the best thing I found to do that even kind-of quenched my need to ride was hooking my bike up to a trainer and investing in some good mtb dvd's to watch while riding. Good luck.

hang in there dude, most of the advise that has been given is trash. Stay real, rest and get better. I broke my collar bone 3 times, this last one in 4 places along with a broken hand. Take your rehab serious and get as strong as you can so when you are ready to get back on the bike you can bomb it! Peace dude. "I pass on the grass."

Recovering right now from my second left c-bone injury in the last year.

Listening to the clicking sound my clavicle makes when I touch it keeps me entertained.

If you are referring to me...unfortuneately not. I guess it would be cool to say I was ripping up gnar-core e-style, but I was just trail riding. It was one of the easier falls in recent memory. Things happen I guess.

    boring sternum story

It happened riding some stunts on the shore - although I'm not exactly sure which one. During that trip I took a few big endo-type falls that resulted in some gianormous bruises and pretty vacation pictures. Maybe I was distracted by the bruising b/c I don't really remember my chest being particularly painful - just uncomfortable. Basically I ignored any pain until December, but cut my riding waaay down b/c it only really hurt when I was breathing hard (and I was having trouble loading my bike on the roof). Then, I must've tweaked it again b/c after that it started really hurting all the time - I couldn't even sit straight up out of bed - had to get up like a fat bastard by rolling onto my side and then pushing myself up. I finally sucked it up and went to the Dr. -- the areas of the breaks (two spots - one good break and one stress fracture) lit up like a light bulb on the bone scan. I'm supposed to be off from all activity until at least August 05, but that's just not possible - that would make for over a year of little to no riding and trust me, I can't stand do any more of anything that's been suggested and entertainment in this thread - so the docs are trying to come up with a different strategy. Until then, I'm supposed to take it easy on the bikes and not to ride my "mountain bike" on any technical trails so that definitely rules out any XC DH or FR bikes -- but she didn't say cruiser...I know it's probably stupid, but I couldn't stand not riding any trails so I took my pink barbie cruiser up to a local xc trail and got some of the mtb bug out of my system (I think there's a post about it from awhile ago in the Norcal boards). Anyways, there it is...pretty boring

    Broken Humerus

Checking in with the broken bone crew. I broke the ball off the shoulder end of my humerus 4 weeks ago. Couldn't drive, couldn't ride. Got some reiki sessions from a bro, and it's healing fast. Lots of weed, beer and channel surfing to kill the time. I've read 4 books since I broke it. Doctor finally cleared me to ride on the road so I've been commuting to school the last few days. Taking the bus sucked.

I was off the bike for 2 weeks with a nasty ankle sprain, its been over 4 weeks now and it still bothers me (might have been that 5 foot drop last weekend that tweaked it again). I just sat on the couch, drank Miller Highlife and got fat.....ok fatter. It sucked.
Oh and i geeked out and built two Linux boxes but I got better before i learned how to use them. LOL I haven't even touched them since I have been back on my bike.
    Hope you get well soon.

I broke my forearm in a hare-scramble race last year on my dirtbike. I was so juiced up on adrenaline, I didn't know it was broken until I had already picked up my bike and was rocking it to get the tranny down to neutral. It was not fun at all. Be glad you didn't have to go in for surgury. It's the second time I've had this thing worked on, this time I have semi-permanent hardware that's been giving me some problems.. Each time I was out for two months with a cast up to my armpit. (anyone want to see the x-rays?)

I kept myself busy by working on my truck... (yeah, one-armed.) I'd still head out to watch races... I cleaned stuff up, did a lot of maintenance on my bikes... Hung out with a lot of friends...

Injuries really make me re-evaluate what I'm doing and why. I gave up racing after that, because one stupid mistake in a corner takes me out of five other hobbies I really enjoy. Don't get me wrong, I didn't give up on the dirtbikes, just the racing side. I turned things down a notch.
