    bottom bracket sizing

this is probably an old question, but how do you measure your bottom bracket size?
like "73x113mm" is 73 the diamiter, and 113 is the lenght, then what is the proper way to measure it? like inside or outside diamiter.

    thanks allot,

73 x 113 - 73mm would indicate the the frames BB shell width, 113mm would indicate the BB's spindle length.

You are correct... And some BB's are 68 and use spacers to achieve 73..

73 mm is how wide the bottom bracket shell is.113 is how wide the entire thing is. 113 is a standard length and will fit most cranks along with a chainguide. Most 73 mm bottom brackets come with spacers so you can use it with frames that have a 68 mm shell.

You got it backwards. They use spacers to reduce it from 73 to 68.

Didn't see Maxrhul's pic. That is correct.
