Bootleg Cyn: March 22/23 or 28/29

Anyone going out on either of those dates? I am leaning t'wards the 28/29 (more healing time). a friend and i are making the drive out on the 27th (most likely).

i was thinking there'd be more people there then 'cuz of Spring Break and all. So i called the shuttle service to see if they'd be running during the week. like on the 21st (Friday). they didn't think so.

anyone got the scoop on shuttling during the week? i'd like to go for more than 2 days, but i am not interested in running a shuttle... but i would in a pinch. any other info'd be nice.

    c-u-there.

I don't think they really ever shuttle up there during the week. It's pretty hit and miss during the week whether you'll find anybody to shuttle with or not.

HA! Never would have imagined a Bootleg Race being referred to as a "formal" event Sure, we'll be racing but there will be just as much goofing off. Not many people get real serious at these events, it's meant to be a laid back weekend.

THANKS for the info. i'd come out for the race, but i'm still in the healing phase from a surgery.

i can't wait to see what it's like out there. Mammoth is great for many reasons. i love the laid back nature of the place. tailgating and riding the gondola. wtf.. it just doesn't get any easier.

was at bootleg canyon last weekend. had a great time. stayed at the Hacienda Hotel & Casino. good place. $2 Black Jack. werd. hell of "free" Guinness.

what else... ok, first off, the shuttle does NOT take you to the top. something that was universally left out of any detail regarding the place. yer looking at a ~15 minute uphill slog (HIKE). call me whatever you like (like "pu$$y"), but that $hit is $hitty. totally $hitty. didn't ruin the trip. not al all but yeah, you are looking at a nasty slog. i never timed it, but it could have even been longer. puts a damper on the day for sure.

the trails are killer. the lines are effing sick. the top area is very rocky. i got a snakebite on my 3rd run. the gay a$$ cheap a$$ c0cksuckers at KHS put single wall Kenda's on the Lucky 7. hey KHS... PHUCK YOU. i had a 'nice' little walk out.. yes, i road with tools, etc., the rest of the day.

the top part has some killer chit that i didn't do but my friend did. in fact, LOL, he was riding better than the local rippers. pretty funny, imo.

after the rockyness of the top, the trails open up for very flowing riding. the ROLLERS on snakeback are effing sick. BIG. and you air out off of all them. and there's like 5 in a row. BIG. fast. you wind up in the jump park which is just bad a$$. the locals built killer jumps. i didn't hit the big ones. but they are nice. even some good concrete work.

i don't know the names of all the trails and connector trails i did. but one that is killer is Snakeback to Diva. oh man.. the ~primo~ flowing line. you wind up in a hardpack wash and you just bank off the walls relentlessly. you wanna do it for like 20 miles, but it ends

sunday was that p!ss Mojave wind that is just relentless. only got in 3 runs before it was tooooo heinous to continue. back to the casino for gambling and drinks.

i recommend checking out Bootleg Canyon. there is a nasty $hitty little hike to get to the good DH trails. personally, i'll do my "conditioning" on my own time. $5 / run or $25 for all day is a good price. i only got left in no-mans land one time (but we kept stopping and checking stuff out on the trail... lack of communication with the driver).

the season has gotta be coming to the end. HOT. it'd be fine without the $hitty hike, but pushing your bike for 15+ minute on a $hitty steep shadeless trail is the $hits with a blazing sun. the locals are cool as hell tho.

no trail pics. got some of us riding the killer "multi-use" culvert in Boulder City. nice, clean, graffitti free town.

Yeah, that hike up is something we all try to block from our minds... It gets even better once the heat kicks in, 5 runs in a day is pretty good then. The wind is pretty constant there, sux but that's just the way it is. If you don't mind the mellower stuff next time try hitting Boy Scout or Skyline to Girl Scout. Those are the trails right beside the road up (Super D course). They aren't very hard but, NO HIKE ! Yay!

i wanted to try 'em. but my bud thot they'd be weak. weird, 'cuz Diva wound up being his favorite thing.

me.. ya know, i didn't like the hike. but i could handle it. the sunburnt head really sucked / still sux. so it was dual beatage on me.

and, it takes some of what you could give the trails out of you. both physicall and time wise.

did we meet? which bike were you riding? i was on the Un-Lucky 7 (proved with the pinch flat and the a$$holing i took on the $2 Black Jack tables). WHERE'S MY WHITE PAINT!

i am going back for sure. hopefully in the fall after my skills get honed at mammoth. but NOT "kevorkian" honed.
