    Which Bike?

    Hey guys

I am looking at getting a new bike. I am fairly light 51kg and about 168cm tall. I do a lot of free riding and urban and the club DH races. The problem is that I go on fairly fast trail rides with some with friends fairly often. Also I am fairly fit (i do triathlons) and I am guessing i am a fairly smooth rider ( i have been doing all of the above on a Trek XC 8000 hard tail). I have about $4000 Australian to spend: what do you guys think? Thank you for your time and consideration,

    Ben

most of the pro's around here are using penny-farthings. If you cant get one for your price see about getting a raleigh burner or maybe a grifter?

I dont like the Nomad, but the Enduro SL, Reign X are really nice. I would choose between one of those.. Preston FR is kinda stupid looking imo. 5" travel.. If anything, a bottlerocket..

how much travel you looking for
if your gonna get a sl your better off going for something a littl more heavy duty
look at an sx trail or something like that
if youll take a dh bike than go for a big hit or demo
but for freeride go for a sx

I would get a bottlerocket apart from the fact that everyone has them. I wasn't looking at the sl but my lbs let me take it on a test ride round the local trails and it was really good. Im looking at about 5 to 7inches of travel depending on pedal ability and how big the bike could go. If i was going to get a 2008 reign X which do you reckon would be best? Has anyone heard much about the ransoms? I know the carbon sucks but what about the alloy ones?
    Thanks ben

    Turner RFX or Highline.

Preston would also be a good call and cheaper.

ReignX not Reign. Look at the Giant website, they have full specs and prices. (In US, take the price X 1.5 ish)

2007 stinky deluxe i love this bike! it comes with a 500 lb coil so if you get one get a lighter spring like a 300. it cost me $3000 american so i think its in your budget. but yeah it is an awesome bike!
