    big hit or banshee

hey ive got a problem here....ive been keeping in touch with this friend of mine who will sell me his 03 big hit w/ 8" travel link, mag 30 rear wheel, azonic bars, and azonic loveseat for $500(great deal, eh?). But on the other hand I have a Banshee Scream with 8" of travel that comes with two double track wheelsets(front and back) for $470.

Which deal should I go with? Whats the best I can get for my money?

    C'mon henry

Your going to want to go with the big hit for racing, the scream is just not a racer by any means. Its uberly heavy and just bad geometry for racing. Ive talked to multiple people with Screams and they are all either building a new bike for racing or sellinng it to get a more race like type bike. Its just a huck bike and thats all. Even though the Big Hit has a 24" rear wheel you will be much happier...

That can be said for the bighit as well. It all depends on how you spec it up. I've seen people with tubeless wheels, slider+, MRP, etc race on a Scream and do excellent.

Ben where the hell did you find a banshee for that price though/
    Tony
    is making a comeback.

Turns out that five years of not mountain biking, really makes one strive to get back to it.

he never said to race until after i posted the scream, the big hit does have the 24" back tire, a minor drawback, for racing i would go with the Big Hit, for Freeriding/downhilling for fun the Scream

well i think im gettin the bighit, my friend needs the money quick for the banshee and doesnt care what i do with it so i think ill try to resell it for enough money to get my bighit(which is like $200 more, so I can resell it for $550 probly)...im not sure yet tho

for you i would probably get the banshee just because they are strong and have a great warranty. i don't know about the racing difference. they could both be built around the same weight. it would be cheaper to get the scream with two wheels too...

yeah, big hits aren't the best race bikes...(due to the 24" rear wheel)
have you seen any of the iron horses on supergo or something? those would be awesome race bikes, and if you break one you get a sunday for a replacement...

yeah i would get the banshee sell it for like $550-600 and then let me buy that bighit if it's the right size.
edit: yeah that would be a sweet bike for racing and for $300....

haha nah i think ill keep the bighit. i thought id ask something: does the 24" wheel add acceleration but slow the top speed or is that just a myth?

it gives you better acceleration, and you do have a slower top speed, but some people say it's more difficult to roll over rocks and obstacles with a 24" rear wheel. i could believe that easily though.
