    BayArea DH ride thread.....

Figured since there are allot of people from the Bay we may as well have a thread for posting up rides. Post up the general location and time, and deal with the details in PMs. This will just keep it more chill if you are riding in not so legal places.

I'm also going to JMP Thursday Afternoon, and Friday Morning.

I ride an 6inch enduro on 6 inch enduro, and I do my fair share of pedaling. I do XC rides on the redwood side and ride cinderella and chapparal when I want more of a DH ride (even though I still pedal up most of the time.

Soon as I get a new DH bike thats going to change though

Hard to "witness" anything if you don't pedal to keep up.

I meant I don't climb trails that I ride down because I shuttle but I do pedal while going down to keep my speed.

I ride a 45lb freeride bike and pedal up most things at JMP with exception of a few spots that too much travel makes impossible...S Jensen climbed JMP on a sinister r-9, SC V-10, Enduro, and probably 6 other bikes he's had in the last year or so...
    I'd huck that...

    Shuttle - Legal

We have been riding up North for years now. Tottaly legit trails. Fast, Fun Steep Jumps long run. It is out there, about two hours north of Santa Rosa but well worth the drive. The insertion point is 6800ft. on top of the mountain. Drop off the shale cliff onto some single track, ridge, sketchy, downhill hold on!! onto fast fire road on to smooth steep 4X4 trails intertwine with dirt bike trails, riddled with watter diverters that you can link up doubles or triples (depending how fast you are going). 20-25 foot tall wallrides. You finally end up at the lake which is about 1800ft. A 4000 foot drop and a smile on your face is what your left with at the bottom. We just got back from riding there on Sunday. Good conditions, some rain on the mountain would help. Campsites are available. Fun times. If anyone that is chill wants to go we can plan some shuttles, let me know- Peace

    It's not Grant's lard-esque thighs and general out-of-shapeness....

...but the sheer quantity of fast-food he consumes on an semi-hourly basis...

    Therein lies the problem.

P.S. Grant, that guy looks legit.

    I would love to.
But I must do the following:
    1. Fail my Stat test
    2. Sell my 888
    3. Get some Apple Pies.

You can ride with Poh as long as you are riding a Chumba, have plans (serious plans) to buy a Chumba, discuss about Chumba Bikes and/or its riders non-stop, or if you work for Chumba and love it.

You can also ride with dogonfr as long as you are riding a Versus, have plans (serious plans) to buy a Versus, discuss about Versus bikes and/or its riders non-stop, or if you work for Versus and love it.

Or you can ride with me, prettymike, motormonkey etc. Although I'm not riding at the moment, I'm cranking out slapshots to goalie's faces instead.

I put the "Fail my Stat test" at the end because failing a test shouldn't be difficult for you...

...unless it's a test for herpes.

    Actually it was in order
    Stat test at 7:30pm
    888 at 9:00pm
    Some apple pies afterward.

All while listening to Cypress Hill.

btw: Clean as a whistle. Besides the case of vaginal crabs Scott gave me to last night.

Lake Pillsbury is what I was talking about.

North Cow mountain does have a sick shuttle- the Valley View trail! single track and fast! Only bike, hike, and horse. No O.H.V. Not that many people ride it. A really fun trail. Word Up!

full on DH bikes are definitely overkill, but they work. Some legal some illegal, but I would know nothing about the latter. Cinderella and Chapparral for legal stuff on the frontside.

Sounds like fun. Cow mountain is ripping dirt bike riding.

I gotta get up there soon and ride some new trails.

Dang Dangerous- It sounds like fun up there... Do you guys just camp out for the weekend? I'd love to go up and get some runs in, but we're all the way down in Monterey, so it sounds like a 5 hr drive for us...

Yep Monterey is deep, what does it take 2 hr to reach Rosa? It is worth it! We usually camp at the lake Friday, Sat, Sun pack it up and head home. The place we camp is in a valley next to a creek, big enough for 30 or so trucks to park. We end up just coasting right into camp. It would be fun to get a big group together to camp, ride, beer, repeat. When we camped there we did five runs. Last weekend we just went for the day. We left @ 5 got three runs in before it got dark. We could have done more but that day was more laid back. Rider from Santa Cruz came last weekend and was blown away.

I know, its horrible, we could be having a moment of silence for a dead person and you'd be the guy who breaks it with a knock knock joke about turtles. I'd avoid riding with him at all costs, I hear the guy eats babies and fights bears in his spare time

Yes it is ridable in the winter. The top of Hull mtn. does get snow, sometimes making the last few miles of road not passable. The road and the trail are on different sides of the mountain. The trail gets more sun so if the road is blocked by snow we could hike the trail up to the summit.

Yes a little shovel work, and there will be more fun! I am planing on digging next time i go. I already made a small drop into our camp off the trail.

I might be able to meet you guys somewhere after lunch.

Gotta' check with the wife to see exactly what's happening tomorrow.

Sadly, I'll be on my trail bike. I've got another 3-4 weeks before the DH bike arrives.

Rode JMP Tuesday...some buffing of the trail and removal of rail road ties on both Chapparal & Cinderella.

    Hadn't ridden in a while...felt good.
But even a lousy downhill run is better than a day in the office!
