    Bad Race Idea

All us Norcal guys know Pacifica.

edit: Well, some kids are trying to hold, what is in my opinion, an "underground race on boyscout."

The organizer of the event would like you to know that they are titling it a "riding sesh in which we are providing anyone who signs up an opportunity for a a friendly comp." He also adds "we are giving our own time in order to provide this for them ."

Anybody that knows how boyscout came to be, why we can ride there, and all that good stuff knows this can't happen.

I figured I'd notify the MTBR crowd; riders on MTBR seem to be more sensible.

Thats how places get over populated and closed. Passing out a location to a sweet spot to ride and illegally organising a event in open public, no f**kn brains

we once did a mini dh race on javalina trail, south mtn, in az. just a few friends, maybe 8, invite only, all word of mouth, very hush hush and timed with 2 wrist watches. the top 3 got a nice quality and mostly drinkable semi warm beer. man i was thirsty watchin them fast guys toss em back! truth is those beers got passed a few times and we all had a blast.

this thing? now that sounds like a train wreck commin down the track. public "races" or "comps" without expressed permission and insurance are part of why we have the access issues and legal barracades trail users face today. it could also be argued those barriers are why we dont have as many fun races. welcome to the new millenium.

It's probably a bad idea but you've got to give them some credit after all that's how MTB'ing started right? Guys racing down Repack back in the day.

I'm not even remotely shocked that this sort of garbage came out of pinkbike.

If you can't type correct English, your ability to plan an "unofficial race" is not only in question, but is on a track for FAIL.

That was back in the day though unfortunately the day has changed. Heck I used to ride moto in Golden Gate Park and we could ride motos in China Camp, Days have changed mostly due to lack of responsibility which is now called liability. We lost the freedom because of fools that had no respect for what they had available to them then when someone got hurt they decided to sue the property owner, yup those were the days.

When the guys raced Repack it was on the down low not in the open public for everyone to see and learn where to go. Even SMT works to keep his trails private and for a good reason.

Just like I said they would, they choked.

Sharks let em' tie it up in the last few minutes of period three. And in the last 5 seconds of OT, they gave up goal #4.

Sharks always come out slammin', and then choke.
    Meh.
