BackFlip Q.? posible or no posible from this drop...!!

    Ok..
I'm having a little argue with a friend about this ...
So now... for you , the e-experts of MTBR, is posible to do a back flip like the one you can see in the first pic. in the drop that I'm doing in the other pics...I think is like 20fts...and if there is a posibility... how you think will be the best way to do it...
    Thanks for the inpust....

The worst is when you land on your head. It doesn't really matter how you get there.

what zachy said. you might want to try a B-Flip on a DJ with a small bike before you try and bust one off a ladder.

OVER...under rotating and going in head first, you'll most likely roll out (shoulder, arm, collar bone) Over rotate and you won't be shopping anywhere that doesn't have wheelchair access. Hill to hill you want to spin fairly fast so the bike is parallel to the landing but on a drop I think you'd want to spin a bit slower so you're just coming around right before you land. Spot your landing and do what ever you gotta do to get the wheels back on the ground. Hope that helps. Good luck !! and DEFINATELY post pictures !!

Uh, if I was going to just out of the blue try a flip, it sure as hell wouldn't be off a jump with zero lip. I'm thinking something with a ton of lip that has a soft landing..

Actually, Dave Mirra tried one at the X games off of a platform into a Q pipe. The announcers said it was all upper body so i dont expect it too be too easy...

I know that is no the same but I've done many times back flips in swiming pools facing the pool...is like runing tours the pool and make a back flip ...like in the first pic but w/o a bike and in a swiming pool...I even done dobles and triple back flips that way ... don't know but that may help me to have a little idea of how to do it with the bike...I guess...!!

oddly enough while we were building the new DH course in clayton oklahoma this topic came up.

i wanna see someone to a backflip off of a stepdown. i say you need a lipped out jump tp do it but a friend thinks not.

he says dave mirra rode a manual across a deck and then back flipped off a box jump. i never saw it or even heard about it so i dunno. i still say you need the lipped jump especially with suspension.

I've seen video clips of two guys trying front flips, one in some teaser and one in NSX 8. Neither one landed it, but they both made it look like it would be possible for some people. They just sort of went off a little fron heavy, and then in the air, just kept leaning forward hard. Both guys sort of flew off the bike as it came back around right-side-up. It was really sick to see, though.

I don't think that you could easily do a backflip off of that (like it would be nearly impossible), especially if this is your first time backflipping a bike. I'm sure that some people could backflip that, though, (given enough money)

Damn! Beat me to it, dave Mirra did a backflip off a pretty big box to quarter pipe in the X-Games last summer, that was nuts.

And Matt Beringer is the only person I know of that has landed a front flip, he was riding for Redline and then S&M a few years back.

use your front brake and try a frontflip, it's way easier IMO. I could do it from a 8 feet drop, to a foam pit though.

Good luck and don't forget about pics!

    Ultimate X

Check out the movie Ultimate X....documentary of the X Games. You should still be able to find it at any Blockbuster. In the opening scenes it shows a BMXer throw a backflip immediately followed by a front flip on a row of doubles.

I think you should build a small but steep ramp on that ladder to have bigger rotation speed. Practice a lot in a skatepark.
