    axles?

is it possible to change the axles from a quick release 14mm to a bolt 14mm thru on the back wheel? i cant stand my quick release. it keeps coming loose and my wheel has fallen off because of it. so would i be able to change the axles?

What bike are you using that uses a 14mm? That's BMX sized...

If it's a sealed cartridge bearing hub, it will depend on the availability of a bolt-on axle. Not all hubs can be converted.

SMT... you can't plug a BMX axle in everything...

    1. the thread pitch might be different
    2. if the hub is a sealed cartridge bearing unit, the axle has flats for the bearing races to sit on. This is specific to the hub.

    i think its 12mm.
its my old bighit wheel that i got at whistler. im moving it over to my new single speed 2006 p.2 cr-mo. ive got it spaced out correctly right now. dead straight chain line. and its sitting fairly far into the drop outs. but cant put a chain tug on a quick release right?

I think you mean 10mm... There are not any 12mm QRs that I'm aware of. If it's the Bighit or the p2, it's definitely 10mm.

Surly makes a chain tug for the QR.
