    Anything wrong with the Blackspire?

I just bought this Blackspire NS-1 chainguide from a friend and my other friend is telling me that theres something wrong with it. He's saying that the chain would constantly fall off and get jammed in the guide.
This is my first chainguide and I've never seen one on the inside before. Please tell me if you see anything wrong with it.

I can definately see where the chain was getting jammed between the ring and the guide but it probably had more to do with the bike's setup/gears/chain than anything wrong with the guide itself.

Looks like he had it spaced badly - properly setup, the chain should not be able to wedge between the boomerang and chainring like that -- there was obviously too much space between them allowing it to happen. It is possible to jam at the top/entry, but that shows wear all the way around.

Probably had it the chainring/chainline adjusted too far outboard (without moving the chainguid out as well)

Let me ask you, How the phuck did your chain get on this side of the plate?????
This is the side thats supposed to face your frame..!!

Otherwise, your chainline is waay off. What kind of frame do you have, along with what chainrings do you use, do you use it with two rings or what, and do you use a front derailer?? If I remember right, the NS-1 can be used with dual chainrings and a front der.
Also, what bottom bracket do you have it on??
The upper guid prevents the use of an inner ring. It is a single ring guide.

You're thinking of the Blackspire "Dewlie", not the NS-1, that is their FR single ring guide.

So you havent even used it yet???
Thats what it looked like when you bought it???
It looks like that ring that you say is plastic is supposed to be there. On my DS1 guide, those rings are aluminum and are part of that plate. The NS must be different. On my model, those 'rings' have small bolts that make the inner plate adjustable, able to slide toward or away from the frame. I guess I dont know much about the NS and what it looks like from the bask, or at least what its supposed to look like.

Blackspire is a great design thats why we kind of borrowed it Shhhhh !
My blackspire clone works awesome and looks great at it

as it has been said set up properly they are rock solid.................

notice how I've got the "C" ring shimmed out from the mounting plate so there is no way the chain can come off on the inside.

The Black spire guide I have has a backward "C" attached to the boomerang! I have sold alot of those and never seen the half "c" that you show in the pic.
I would take a pic of mine but don't have the bike here at the shop.

That being said as long as that top piece is close to your chain without rubbing it should work just fine.
Is it falling off the bottom roller?
