    Anybody roll with Nikes?

Curious if anybody rides with Nikes like these. Got bored so I decided to customize some and found that I liked them a lot. Not sure if they'd be too good of a riding shoe though...

    is making a comeback.

Turns out that five years of not mountain biking, really makes one strive to get back to it.

Are they actually a good shoe or a poor attempt at becoming popular in a new sport?

Anybody remember the Johnny T / Nike mountain bike commerical? It was almost as good as the Juicy Fruit one. I think it had "Insane" Wayne Crossdale in it too.

Tomac did race in Nike Poo-Bah's and all.

actually nike makes quality shoes. i have skated for the past 6 years and have skated in a lot of shoes, and nike was way up there in quality. at first i didnt like the fact that nike was getting into sports that werent 'mainstream' but they do contribute to most sports (maybe not too much to mtb) and their shoes are really nice. so yeah nikes are the bomb diggaty.

My brother bought a pair of their skate shoes and he liked them. I had a pair of the air zoom fc, but they were more of an indoor soccer shoe, no ankle support and the sole was really soft, I hated riding with them.

    From Sea Otter

"Trek showed us some neat new stuff that I'll cover in another report, but the freeride boys might be interested in the prototype Nike freeride shoe that dirt jumper Andrew Shandro (pictured here with it) has been testing. With more support than a skate or BMX shoe and some rugged features, his shoes were still covered in dust from Utah photoshoot session where he'd been testing them out."

I personally am a bit anti-nike. Something about industry "giants" that bugs me when you got 13 year old kids mowing lawns for an entire summer to buy a pair of 200 dollar shoes that cost Nike 8 bucks in materials and 10 bucks in labor to be made in a sweatshop in thailand by locals working for pocket change. I wear Adidas Shelltoes (with platforms) and Hematomas (with clips). I give Adidas props (not just because I get love from them) but I do get all my Adidas stuff for cost. That whole Micheal Jordan era in the 80's and 90's when every year the "new Jordans" came out at $150 $200 $250 bucks a pair and the CEO's and MJ are makin million's off kids spending their hard earned cash to "be like Mike". Adidas has been loyal in it's product R & D for it's two big sports, Soccer and Basketball since the early 70's and now getting more and more involved in mountain biking sponsoring race teams, promoting races, huck jams, northshore and slopestyle contests...As well as tons of new product development for our sport. And you can still get a pair of Shelltoes for 55 bucks at Footlocker. If anyone is going to help progress our sport to the next level it will be Adidas...just my .02 cents.
