    80mm bb nightmare

being the proud owner of a highline i have come to the conclusiont hat it needs some new cranks.
being skint i opted for the very reasonably priced and seemingly good value howitzer bb 80mm shell. and pair with it some big earl cranks.
it was difficult from the outset as the lbs could get the cranks but not the bb. so i ordered the bb from an online uk supplier and the cranks from the lbs.
to cut a very long story short ish the bb came through wrong twice and then when i was fitting the cranks onto the bb the splines didn't mesh.
it turns out that the almighty trek decided the 165 length big earl cranks would fit the howitzer but not the 170's nor the 175's. although there website did (it's getting changed) say the big earl was howitzer compatible. i now have a set of king earls and am still waiting for the right bb.
all i want to do is ride my damn bike.
