New question here. 5th element noise

My 5th element make a rubbing like noise when it compreses more than 1/2 way, its almost sound like a tire rubbing, but not as loud. It used to make the noise last fall, and it hasnt made it all summer up to now. What is this noise, its seem like the piston is dry and making a rubbing noise. Anyone got any advice? Thanks

did your shock feel bad, becasue mine feels 100% perfect, it made the noise about 4 months ago, then it just stopped, and now it came back.

You're positive it's on the compression stroke? All of them I've heard make a unique sound on rebound...as opposed to a Fox or others...especially as they make they quick transition from compression to rebound. I just ask because sometimes it's hard to pinpoint that exact spot when the noise is occuring.

I know you commented that your 5th was quiet when new, but I've always heard this rebound "croak" on new or used 5ths. We've always jokingly refered to it as frogs croaking. Sounds are very subjective when heard and being described, so it's often hard to relate in a forum like this.
