    To 2nd Bike or not?

    To 2nd Bike or not?

Ok so I have my foes built up now and thinking about building a 2nd bike to play on, cruise on, let friends who dont have bikes ride on. Also thought about using this bike to help me get in better shape..maybe cruise a trail once a week to finesse my skills and get faster..

I am thinking about getting a P2 and then just putting a Marz DJ or Z1 type fork on there and upgrading a few parts.

What do you guys think...I can end up with a nice hardtail prolly for around $1200...

It doesnt work, I have two bikes, and the one that I dont ride too often. Doesnt get maintained, I say I will do it, but it gets put off. And put off.

Id do it, but make sure to work on it every once in a while or make friends do it!

I think its a good idea

I have got a Specialized P3 with a dirtjumper 2 and a Specialized Bighit with a junior T. I ride the Bighit in the weekends in the forest and I ride the P3 on the street. I probably ride them about the same amount I'd say, depending on the weather, and I keep them both pretty well maintained.
Its perfect for me becuase my Bighit isnt alot of fun to ride on the road becuase it bobs about too much when you are pedaling top speed, I swapped out the bashring on the P3 for a 3rd chainring and its sweet.
I think if you are doing 2 very different kinds of riding it makes sense to have 2 bikes, if you can afford it. I bought the p3 second hand.

Kustom built P.3 ('02- last good one!) and Bighit with Monster and all goodies. When I feel like flying on a good warm day, I take my P.3 for a spin. I'd say I use them in 60/40 ration, 40 being P.3

wouldn't have it any other way

i have had 2 bike for about the past five years, every winter i clear house and build up a new stable. i am fortunate to be able to build one bike for trail/exercise and another for testing my insurance policy. This summer might be different thought because i just sold the shiver and bought a slider+ for the diesel in hopes of getting more use out of it, it has a 34t saint dh crankset on the front now also.

    Four bikes here

But mine are mostly for different purposes. Two road, one MTB, one commuter bike (an old hybrid). All get ridden, because they're all for different purposes. The second road bike is for rainy days when I don't want to get my nice bike dirty, for lending to friends, or just for a change of pace. More bikes is a good thing.

Most weeks, I'll ride at least three of the four. Many weeks, all four get ridden. Two weeks ago, all four got legitimately used in a single day.

im in the same position. right now i have a 2004 stinky with shermans and soon to have dangerboy 5th element combo and when im done with this thing its not gonna be to good in the streets. so i was thinking about buying a used p1 or p2, and my decison is to go with the p1. i think its good to have more than one bike because then you can build your rides for more specific styles of riding.

Nice bikes Danny! You should bring your unicycle up to the track and do some stuff on it, that would be funny to see. Hopefuly we can ride tomorrow...

Again as far as multiple bikes so, hopefully in a week or so I'll have 3. 02 Bighit, mk2 On-One Gimp, and a 03 Trek 820

    is making a comeback.

Turns out that five years of not mountain biking, really makes one strive to get back to it.

ya, I'm still working on the unicycle on, it needs a few quick welds to make it work better, but I still wouldn't expect any great riding from me on it, but hopefully soon...

Ok so I have narrowed my choices for my 2nd cruising, play, let a friend use on the trail bike

    1.) Planet X Team Edition RAD w/ DJ 1

    2.) Specialized P2 w/ Z1 FR

    3.) Rocky Mountain Flow w/ Z1 FR

What do you guys think...I will be throwing Hayes Hydros on, xt drivetrain..maybe some saints, and run a 20mm up front

Once again bike will be used for..

Let friends ride on trails , the who dont own a bike

    Play around street bike

Play around trail bike...maybe use to get faster on my FR bike..

I currently have one bike which is an Enduro Pro. I ride aggressive XC but take summer trips to DH area's. I keep considering building a light DH bike but don't know if I would really use it much. I spend enough time trippin on my present components - two bikes would keep me awake all night.
