2006 Avid Juicy 7 (203mm) for DH use

Would the 2006 Avid Juicy 7 (203mm) be enough brake for my Giant Faith? I mainly use the bike for Lift Pig service and have beat the crap out of the stock discs.

Anyone know if they would work well in this application?

    I am 6-1 and 200#.

Just curious because they are on PricePoint for a deal right now.

    Thanks

If you can wait, I have a set that you can have for really cheap, I replaced my 04/05 set with 07s because I wanted black.

The J7s are a capable brake. Some people have issues with fading. This is usually due to bad bleeds or old DOT fluid.

I'm 6'1" 215lbs on a Giant Faith with Juicy 7's. I'm going to switch to Codes next spring, I rode a friends Zumbi with them and even after a few minutes I felt they had more power. I'm starting to race though, if you're not racing, you may not need them.

J7s with the EBC red compound pads are awsome. Plenty of power for DH.

You kidding me? Juicy 7's are freaking sweet for DH, that's what I run.

Everybody brakes differently on different features. I'm just starting to race and I am braking too much into corners I've been told by my teammates. But a lot of guys on the team run 4 piston brakes anyway.

Its a personal preference like all stuff. I liked the extra power of the Codes, that feeling that there's a bit more power if I need it. I only rode them for about 10 minutes and I'm going to give them a try again before I go and buy them though.

    Juicy 7

I had been thinking about the Avid Codes but saw the deal on the Juicy 7 on PricePoint. But now it looks like PricePoint is out of them, so I might keep looking for a deal on the Codes.

    Thanks for all the INFO!!

I'm 6' 2", 230# and run the Juicy 5s because the reach adjuster seems like something that would just get ripped off in a crash. Otherwise the brakes are identical, and the 203mm Juicys on my Dirtbag are more than enough stopper for everything I do (Whistler, Shore, Black Rock...)
