    05 Bighit spring weight

I just picked up a used 05 Bighit with a 650# spring on the Vannila R. I'm about 170# + gear and will be using the bike for FR, jumps, drops, ect. Specilized site list the med. sized bike with a 500# spring and the manual say to set it up with 30% sag which I'm guessing is more for DH racing. I didn't even come close to 30% sag.

What weight spring will be good for me? Thanks

Mine came stock with a 550. I am 175 with gear, so real close to your weight. I use it for everything from super tech downhill to jumping and it feels perfect for me. Hopefully that helps ya!

I have a 2005 bh with 8.75x2.75 shock. It came with a 550 pound spring, which I knew would be too heavy. I only wiegh about 130ish. I had no air in the shock (swinger 4way) and it was still too heavy. I switched to a 500 and it made little difference. Finally, I got a 400 pound spring, pumped up to 50psi in the shock and its very nice. I have about 2 inches of sag I would say. 8 inches of travel total.
If you're not living on the edge you're taking up to much space.

I have to get some ride time in on the bike to see exactly what I need. I was just reading the set up instuctions and other stuff, it just had me wondering what weight spring other people are riding.
