some other things i'd like to add. im 150 fully geared up, pretty smooth, and wont be doing more than 15 to smooth tranny any time soon. im gonna build it up like a race bike that can be taken out to the jumps on other days. will also utilize a king headset, to keep the headtube up. is this the frame for me?

Azonic makes the Recoil which is an exact copy of the M-1.

I like the recoil way better than my big hit.

Questioning M1's durability for drops? ROFLMAO!!!

I have an '02 M1 and it rocks! As for worrying about it's durability for drops, GMAFB! Like Spongebob said, you can't get more durable!!! I'd even say it's too much bike for your 150 lbs. (I'd look for something lighter if you plan to Freeride mainly for better air maneuvering). I rode with a guy who had the Azonic knock-off today, another excellent rig.

    That's EXACTLY it...

It is seriously almost too much for me. The highest I've dropped though is about four feet with it. The new Boxxer with the Vanilla is the cushiest, most plush, eat-up-everything suspension. I'm going to try to get a new seat post so I can drop the saddle as low as possible, then try and use it again.

I'm 5'7". It is a size large frame. I have a medium Bullit that I am much more comfortable on and the M1 just sits in my living room. It kills me...It's such a great bike. AND I put a lot into it.

The seatpost stinks (see thread entitled "Seat Post Recommendations" - That's me.) and I can't get the saddle lowered all the way down. I need it as low as possible for decent stand over clearance. That way I can stay on the seat and get my foot comfortably on the ground.
Plus I've been using that Bullit soooo much. I'm getting way more use out of the Santa Cruz.
BUT that M1 was a lot more successful with the rock gardens at Diablo in NJ....

    im not shure

im not shure but i think most seat posts have that little taper twards the seat... the race face diablos seat post might not have have it... i guees you hafta go to your lbs and take a close look at seat posts.. you might be able to shim it for now by cuting up a pop can and placing it were the seat tapers.... as a quick fix untill you can find a proper seat post.

    I dunno....

I love the thing, but I never use it. I'm only asking $1400 for the whole bike. I just fell in love with that new Demo 8 and want to save up for that.
Thanks for that soda can idea though. Very creative.

you hafta be creative when you live five hours from the nearest major city... the only way outa this city is to drive south for five hours or take a plain north to whitehorse or any were else in canada. out lbs doesn't have much for bikes or parts so if i break somthing i hafa get creative. as for 1400 for an M1 thats a good deal.... from the picts it looks well taken care of.
