    Sram Rival 1 cranks

Looking for a set of Rival 1 crank arms in 165mm, and no one seems to have them.

If I get a 2x crank and remove the spider/chainrings and install a -6mm direct mount ring, will the chain line be the same as the 1x cranks?

    Thanks.

This link is useful. Quote from link...

"SRAMís road 1x chainrings are available in sizes as small as 38 teeth. Paired with a 10-42 cassette, climbing gears are abundant. But the definition of what a road bike can be is constantly changing, and many people, whether they are bike packing, touring, or running extra wide tires, are looking for even lower gearing. For cases like these, any rider with a SRAM crank with a 3-bolt spider attachment, such as Rival or Force, can replace their spider with a direct mount X-SYNC MTB chainring (use the 6mm offset version on both GXP and BB30 crankarms). The combination of MTB type gearing with road weight and Q factor is the perfect solution for the cutting edge of drop bar bike designs. Direct mount chainrings are available in sizes from 28 to 40 teeth."

Thanks! Sounds like all the arms are the same then.

Yes, the cranks are the same. I did the same thing, although mine were 175mm 2x, with 46/36 combo. I've installed a 40t, 6* offset chainring.

So all of the 165's are sold out, except Apex and Force. The Force cranks are expensive and narrow, and Apex doesn't have a direct mount option. Anyone know if Sram dropped the 165mm Rival arms, or if they will be back this year?

There is a 165 Rival BB30 on ebay for $120. You didn't mention if you wanted GXP or BB30.

I ended up getting a set of GX Eagle cranks and a -6mm 38T direct mount ring. The bike is more mountain bike than road anyway, so I am not too worried about the 49mm chain line (11-42 cassette, 142x12 rear, and really long stays). The wider cranks will help with my toe overlap too.

    Thanks for the help.

Isn't the spindle too wide for your CX bike?

No, the BB comes with a spacer for each side to use on a 68mm BB shell.

How is this working out? Have a similar issue, in that I want to use a 10-46 XT cassette with a single chainring on a gravel bike (all-city Cosmic Stallion). but I'm worried about the chainline. The BB is a 68mm English also.

It's absolutely perfect. I did a similar set up on my wife's bike also with 165mm nx cranks (same 49mm chain line). Also perfect.
