    XCL/TALAS Question

    Hi folks,
I recently picked up an XCL frame (medium) and I plan on running a TALAS R (32) with a Cane Creek S-8 headset. Will the top caps/knobs contact my downtube if the fork is turned too far? I know I'll never turn the fork that far under normal riding, but in the event of a crash or something...

I have the same fork and similar headset (S-6) on my XCL. The knob(arch) to downtube distance doesn't actually shorten when you turn down the fork so you shouldn't have clearance issues. The arch to axle distance shortens instead.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I should have worded my question differently. I understand how the fork functions, what I am trying to get at is whether or not the top caps/adjuster knobs will smack into the downtube if the handlebars are turned 90* in either direction.

Ah - that makes more sense

No, the knobs don't have a problem with clearance in any position.

Beautiful! Thanks for the help. I'm excited to get this thing together; it's tough waiting to get my current bike sold first.
