Has anyone had an opportunity to ride the new Vassago VerHauen? I am really interested in any thoughts a test rider may have.

Yes, fantastic bike...IPA copper, medium and paired it with a whisky rigid fork. Just finished a three day stage race in South Africa on it, the bike absolutely loves singletrack and handles incredibly well with the new "fast cat" geo. Got lots of comments on the paintjob, its pretty sick.

You cannot go wrong...there is just something about steel.

Thanks for the feedback. Just what I wanted to hear. I agree, there is just "something" about the way a good Steel bike rides.

In the process of building one rigid SS, really excited! None more black, Whisky No. 7; it's gonna be stealthy. Pictures to come.

I recently built up a SS Verhauen in the ectoplasm green with a set of Arch/King wheels and a Reba. I love the way this bike handles - way better than the Bandersnatch I had a couple of years ago. The short chainstays are the real deal.

Waiting for the singletrack to dry out before i put on my new set of rubber.

New build pics can be found here for my Curly's Gold VerHauen!

    http://forums.mtbr.com/29er-bikes/ve...l#post11253070

I've actually gotten 50 miles put on it since Sunday, and all I can say is WOW.

The feel of a steel frame is like no other material that I've ridden.

The geometry is spot on, but took some getting used to over the first two rides.

I rode a very familiar trail on it last night (the second time that I'd ridden it on the VerHauen), and I'm slowly finding my groove.

In learning the handling of this bike as opposed to my 100mm travel Specialized Carve, it seems to want to break loose in the turns. My VerHauen has 120mm travel, and it is awesome on the downhill!

Sad to say, I may not be riding my Carve for very much longer as I just like the feel of the VerHauen better when it comes to ride quality.

My most updated (and rare clean) pic of my VerHauen. Hands down the most fun and comfortable HT 29"er I have ever ridden/owned/fondled, and I have had plenty. Love this bike more every ride. Next and probably final upgrade is a Selle Anatomica saddle, I demo'd one over the weekend on my bike and loved it.

so its been just under a year ito verhauen ownership and like a good red wine it just gets better with time...Not a single issue from mine...she just keeps going well.

Some scratches here and there but hey its mtb'ing afterall. Still my go-to bike on the weekends.

Made some strategic changes to the VerHauen. Carver XC-480 rigid fork, Schwalbe Racing Ralph tires front and back (2.4 and 2.35), FSA SL-K 740mm bar, and a 90mm stem. The result, both visually and on the trail, was awesome. Snappy handling, more comfy position. Shattered my PR on a local 13.5 mile/2000 ft climb. Went from liking this frame to LOVING this frame.

Now on iteration #3 on my VerHauen - 1x10 with a Reba up front. Kept the FSA bar, went back to the 80mm stem, removed the Carver fork and put the Reba 100mm back on, replaced the rear 2.35 Racing Ralph with a 2.25 RR, which I promptly sliced on a rock, and thus replaced it with a 2.1 Ground Control. Added a 30t Race Face narrow/wide front ring, an 11-36 XT cassette, and an SLX shadow plus medium cage rear derailleur and SLX shifter. With the derailleur and smaller rear tire, I was able to slide the rear wheel almost all the way forward in the dropouts. The shorter chainstay length canceled out the slower handling with the longer fork and kept that nice, whippy feeling. I really love this frame - I'm riding it more than my Jet 9 RDO or my Covert 29. So versatile, fast and fun!!

I just love this bike. Back to the rigid fork and added a 760mm flat bar, Silverado saddle, singlespeed setup, Sun Ringle Black Flag Pro wheelset and XT brakes. Haven't ridden it yet like this, but will soon.

Hey all - got the new graphics package for my Verhauen, IMO looks awesome. Not that the old was bad by any stretch, I just love "panels" as a logo (like Soulcraft does) and matte stealth black. Removing the old was easy, the new went on without a hitch.

Built it up and rode 13 miles of single track. Very fun bike soaks up the trail and is very compliant.

Just ordered one - the site says "late August" for the availability of size L. And it's late August!

Nope. Still waiting. I'm now about 7 weeks post-order. Was checking here to see if anybody else has ordered a VerHauen and is also still waiting.

    FYI...

I thought their latest offering of this frame looked great. Had a few questions and shot them an email. The promptness and thoroughness of their replies were just so damn impressive I just had to to post here. Still not sure if the frame would meet my needs but based on there level of communication I'm incredibly impressed.

First thing I do when considering a new brand is I shoot them an email with some reasonable tech questions. Through the years responses have ranged from none to five star. These guys get the 5 star. I've found this to be a great acid test as to whether the company and their product is worth dealing with.

    Thanks.

I've owned a VerHauen frame for over 5 years and have been impressed with Tom's responsiveness since I first corresponded with him in early 2014. When I've emailed over the last few weeks, he has promptly responded with a status update.

The sheer number of people who know the owner of Vassago as Tom and have had direct contact with him says a ton about the company. They do it right.

Hey Nels, long time no see (sort of - I passed you driving the other day. I'd say we should ride, but that's another f-ed up old guy health problem story you can read about in the 50+ forum.)

Tom forgot the orange headset. Sent the black instead.

Done, first ride complete. Reminds me of the Transition Trans AM 29 but not as heavy and a little more lively.
