Southern Builders - Brew, Nevil, etc...

Hey now, let's see what you have in the way of frame by Southern builders like Brew and Nevil, maybe even Litespeed if you so fancy. Yeah, I know some of the stuff that came from some of the small builders like Nevil was sketchy, but if it still survives let's see it.

I'll start it off. I picked this up off eBay a few weeks ago. Not sure of the age, but looking at the dropout spacing and steerer size I'm guessing earlier 90's. I've tried to contact Brew but haven't gotten a response yet. It is just at 4lbs. Soon to be built up as a period build.

    How far South exactly?
No longer member of the bike industry nor society, so don't hassle me.

I saw that one on ebay.

We have(had) 3. My wife has one and I had two, now one. It's been repainted twice now.

Haven't seen a Nevil in years. Had a friend with one. The long top tubes were definitely ahead of their time. Look at the geometries of many bikes today.

Who did the repaint on yours? I'm thinking about getting the one in my post above repainted.

BREW did it. It's a real basic powder coat. It's fish-eyeing a little. The wet paints they did years ago like the one you have were nicer. They used PPG auto paint.

They have a color guide at the web page for their powdercoats. It's tough and is utilitarian if that's what ur looking for. Spectrum powder coating probably does some of the best in the industry.

That is a pretty neat color. from a distance it looks nice.

I thought about having them do a powdercoat job, but I still haven't heard word one back from them. I will call them next week and see what up. I'd love to have the decals reapplied no matter who does the finish, so I need to contact them no matter what. I had actually read in a couple places that their paint jobs were pretty poor, but this one has got to be 15 years old and it looks fantastic for its age. Very thin, but still mostly all there.

I've always wanted a BREW. Well, now I have one, or at least one that fits my wife.
