Serotta Odile steel and Ti Max

I have been wondering why here in the UK and on the US Forums you don't hear much said about Serotta, as these frames are some of the most expensive around. Are they not that good for the very high price that they are? When people are asked what would be their dream Ti bike, they list Moots, Seven, IF, Sycip plus many more but not Serotta. Anyone anytime on the steel Odile or the TiMax. Been offered either of these for half price. They are 2001 models but still new and unbuilt.
Anyone with any experience of these and not simply guessing. Many thanks.

one of my closest friends has a Serotta Odile. I've ridden it on a few occasions and loved it. He swears by it. I would have no quarrels about recommending one to you.

    Serotta

Sadly, Serotta is no longer making mountain bikes.

I have two Serotta road bikes, a CSi and a CXII (both are steel), and absolutely love them. I'll never part with either one of them.

I say, buy the Ti-max. You'll never regret it.

    This is an opinion!

Serotta, like several other manufacturers I won't mention, seems to have forgotten that they make bikes. They will sell you on the smoke and the mirrors, but when the rubber hits the road, they are just bikes. Paying through the nose for a Ti/Carbon road frame that Tiawan can produce, make a profit on, and sell to you for a 5th of the cost, just makes no sense. If they were building them out of some crazy material that no one else used, I guess I could see it, but they don't. If you want classy weld work, get a Moots, they seem to be the last bastion of surgically beautiful, hand done welds. Serotta's are fine, as far as holding together, but to charge as much as they do, and deliver Ti welds as unattractive, and overheated as theirs are, just seems criminal. Remember, it's still a bike, your still going to ride it, crash it, and leave it dirty. Weld attractively, charge accordingly.Serotta makes a fine, responsive bike, Colorado concept tubing is cool, but Cannondale does the same thing! Again, if you are the ONLY one doing something, cool, if your not, don't charge so much more!
